ACCIDENT.-â€"â€"About three o’clock on 'x-i-Tuesdayrofternoon, while. a mechanic,reo cently from Montreal, was engaged in the ‘ Grand Trunk Round House, foot of John street, in adjusting a belt upon a wheel, his sleeve was caught by the machinery, and his right arm torn completely off at the elbow, and the flesh from the bone .for‘some d stance higher up, and then the body‘thrown from the wheel a distance of four or'ftre yards. He was removed to the hospital, and underwent amputation of the arm a little below the shoulder )oint. The operation was performed by Dr. Aik- ins. The final issue of the case is con- sidered by his surgeon to be uncertain. Major General Sir D. Cameron. the gallant veteran who commanded the High- land Regiments in the Crimea, and who was first on the heights of Alma wrth his killed countrymen,’ was recently appomted commander-iti‘chict of Her Majesty‘s forces in Scottland. Grapes are displayed in the windows of Broadway fruiterics, with the notice at- tached, $3 per pound. It is needless to say that they are sour gropes. The Quebec Chronicle understands that a Lithographic establishment in connection with the Crown Lands" Office is anticipat- ed.‘ This will be a great convenienCe, and a large saving will thereby be effected in the Cost of maps and plans for the pubâ€" lic Service.
