$502qu FULL OF w‘ THE WORLD IS BEAUTY. There is a beauty in the forest Where the trees are green and fair; There is a beauty in the meadow Where \vild flowers scent the air ; There is beauty in‘the sunlight, And the soft blue beam above ; Oh 1' the world is full of beauty VVlIen the heart is full of love ! There is beauty in the mountain, Singing gaily at the play, While rainbow hues are glittering On-its silvery, shining spray, . There is beauty in the streamlet, Murmuring softly through the grove; 0h 1 the world is full of beauty When the heart is full of love I There is beauty in the moonlight When it falls upon the sea, “71108 the blue, foam crested billows Dance and frolic joyously ; There is beauty in the lightning gleams That over the dark waves rove -; Oh I the world is full of beauty When the heart is full of love 1 There is beauty in the brightness Beaming from a loving eye,- In the warm blush of affection. In the tear of sympathy 3 In the sweet low voice, whose accents The Spirit’s gladness prove : Oh. the world is full of beauty When the heart is full of love. filtrttllunrnur, Why is the seeing a sign a manifest token of sight'lâ€"Because it is a Sign you see. Sleep.â€"A cloak drawn around us at the side-scene, as we leave the stage awhile. What word is that which if you take away the first letter, all will still remain. Ball. Tire man who lives for himself lives for a mean fellow. Wisdom is thehtalent of buyying virtu- ous pleasures at the cheapest rate. Literature is a garden, books are par- ticular Views of It, and readers are visit. ors. If you laugh too long and too immod- cratcly at a joke. others will laugh at you rather than at the joke. “I am afraid of lightening,” murmured a pretty woman during a thunder storm. “Well, you may be,” said a desparing fever, “when your heart is steel.” Never purchase love or friendship by * gifts; when thus obtained they are soon lost as soon as you stop payment. As in a letter, if the paper is small and we have much to write, we write closer, so let us learn- to economise and improve the remaining moments of life. Cleanliness may be said to be the foster- mother of love. Beauty indeed most com- monly produces that passion in the mind, but cleanliness preserves it. Men and' women never struggle so hard as when they struggle alone, without wit- ncss, councellor, or confidant, unencourag- ed, unadvised, and unpitied. “Father,” said a four year old, I think you are a fool.” “ Why, my child 7.” “Because you have brought that baby here when mother is so sick, and you have got a woman to take care of it.” Everything useful or necessary is cheap- est; walking is the most wholesale exer- cise, water the best drink, the plain food the most nourishing and healthy dietâ€"- even in knowledge the mest useful is the easiest acquired. A STRING or ANECDOTES.â€"In the “Autobiography of Miss Cornelia Knight, Lady Companion to the Princess of Wales’ we have the following stories:â€"-“ Sir Ed- ward Sugden, a celebrated lawyer who has lately come into Parliament, having heard that he had been turned into ridicule for being the son of a hairdresser, made answer: “So I am, and I am come into the Home to give a dressing to the \Vhigs.’”â€"-“I forget who told the the following ancedote of the Marquis of Wellsley, when Lord~Lieutenant of Ire- land. I'Ie was at a table with a party of Irish gentlemen who were chiefly Orange- mcn, and in the' dining-room hung a picture efthe battle of the Boyne, which in that country is usually called the Victory of Boync Waters. The company, wishing him to pronounce an opinion, invited him to change his scat. ‘ Surely, my lord,’ said one, ‘you would not turn your back on Boyne Waters 7.’ Lord Wellsley answered pointing to a bottle of claret that stord before him, ‘Oh, I never l0<k at water when Ican get wrrre.”’â€"â€"“ An old woman, who died a few years ago in Ireland, had a nephew, a lawyer, to whom she left, by will, all she possessed. She happened to have a favourite cat, who ncve left her, and even remained with the corpse after her death. After the will was read in tne adjoining room, on opening the door the cat sprang at the lawyer, scizcd him by the throat, and was with difficulty prevent- ed from strangling him. The man died about eighteen months after this scene, and on his deathbed confessed that he had murdered his aunt to get possession of her moncy."’â€"â€"-“ A celebrated surgeon, named Irivois', who was in the French army, took cot’npassion on a dog whose leg bud been fractured by a shot during the siege of some place or other. He set the bone and cured him. Some time afterwards he found waiting at his door thc'Same dog, with a companion who had a broken leg, also. on request, ,0 Comm), Business in the and whom he evidentally wished to intro- duct: to him. The surgeon cured the second dog also, and mentioned the circum- stance to the Countess du C , who rc- pcalcd it to me.” .w Eastman shimmery. DR.
