FEMALE LIFE AMONG THE HORMONS E ‘6 HAT gins A SPINNING WHEEL FOR HER MA- JESTY.â€"â€"â€"Her Majesty was graciously pleased, some time ago, to favor Mr. Peter Stewart, wheelwright, Spittalï¬eld, with an order for a twoâ€"handed spinning wheel for her Majesty's use. Mr. Stewâ€" art, who is 77 years of age, although an adept in his profession, at ï¬rst hesitated to execute an order for such an illustri- ous personage; but, conscious of the honor conferred upon him, resolved to do his best. The wheel, which is manu- factured of mahogany, is of plain but beautiful workmanship, having a silver ilate inserted in the stock, on which is tastefully engraved the name and resi- dence of the maker. The wheel was sent to Her'Majesty before her depar- ture from Balmoral, who, having tested its merits, personally condescended to ex- press herself highly pleased with itâ€"so much so, that her Majesty caused her photographist to take her likeness sitting at the spinning wheel. The Queen at the same'time gave instructions to have the wheel in question removed to Wind- sor Castle, and authorised Mr. Stewart to make a one-handed wheel of home wood, to be reads7 for her Majesty on her return in autumn, which Wheel, we understand, is to be made out of a par- ticular tree that grew many years ago on the estate of Delvine.â€"â€"Perthshire Advertiser.
