Messrs Harrison and Robson, have presented the Rev. Mr Trew, of Christ’s Church Yorkville, with a purse ot'880, to help him to replace his carriage which Was broken to pieces a fevr weeks since by his horse running away, whilst he was driving to service at York Mills, which since the spring has been under his clerical charge. Friday morning about five o'clock a fire broke out in Butterficld’s Foundry Bradford, entirely consuming the buildâ€" ing and destroying its contents. It is surmised that the fire originated in the boiler rootu, and that it had been smoul» daring-all night. Mr But..erfield‘s loss is very heavy, not less than»25;000, and unfortunately, he has only 2,000 insu- rance on it. The dwelling house of Mr' John Murphy. with sheds, &c., which» adjolnetl the foul-dry, were aisovconsu- *med. His loss will be fully 81,000. We see by some of the Toronto papers that the Council of Yorkville intend to introduce oil lamps to light the streets. l Their narrow-mindcdncss will not permit them to go the length ol'gas'. It is cer- tainly remarkable that they could aspire higher than talluw dips. Wonders will never cease. By the way there is some talk ofContracts being called for to build'l that fence to separate Ycrkville‘from 4 icy.
