Pansnnmmx Sommeâ€"A jubilee cele- bration was held in the Presbyterian Cnurch,Markhrm. on Tuesday evening, ]5th inst. to commemorate the liquidation Ofa seven ye'nrs' debt. The spread in the basement was a'llractive and appetizing and palrouiied to its utmost capacity. The Rev. Mr. Carmichael, chairman, was an éï¬icien} executive ofï¬cer. The speakers, V, WV ,, , i..- _r_.._<... Rev. Messrs Cockburn. Hart, Seymore: and Campbell. acquitted [bemselves with flislinc‘tiqn as to wit; quaintness', point and (unity. The p’roc’eeds were hands'ome, being $107. In fact the whole proceedings were a success and demonstrated that “the year ofjubilee Irina" come" to the Presbyter- lan Church at. Markham. Assuming. and rightly it would seem, ihat the principle of disense is the some in oil cases. the celebrated HOLLOWAY. a man of scientiï¬c attainments. succeeded many years ago in producing two remedies suitâ€" able to the relief and cure of most diseases to which human nature is liable. 'l‘heir popularity in this counttv is immense. rind ‘we question whether the distinguished inventor has a richer harvest. ï¬eld than Australasia within the world-wide circuit. of his business operations. The Pills and Ointment are household remedies wherever permanent dwellings exist. and few of the tents ofthc roving adventurers in pursuit of wealth from the bowels of the earth are unfurnished with them. The singular adaptation of the Pills to all kinds of conâ€" stitutions. as Well as all classes of disorders is one of their most vnlunhle properties. In all complaints and difï¬culties special to the feebler sex, they seem to exercise the happiest influence. In the two great. crisises of life, the dawn of womanhood, and the epoch which marks the point between maturity and decline. they have proved invaluable to women in every cliine and country. Females. from the tenderness with which they are generally brought up, from the murderous peculiarities of dress which tnshion has forced upon them. from their delicate and sensitive organization, and the perilous position they occupy as the immediate perpetuators of the race, are subject to ailments from which men are exempt. and it is indeed fortunate for the sex that a medicine which meets their wants and debilities has been given to the world. With Holloway’s Pills and Oint- ment always at hand in her closet, every woman can be her own physician, and the physician of her husband and children, if she have any, as well. No need of running for the doctor or besieging the drug stores; she has the whole pharmacopoeia. or rather something inï¬nitely better than the whole pharmacopoeia, in a nutshell. She can hold between her ï¬nger and thumb the talisman that will cure many disorders. We. are not surprised that Hollowny’s remedies are popular with women of all ages. for they have proved their efï¬cacy in the home circle. and know from observa- tion and experiment their inestimnble worth . â€"â€"- The Sentinel. A Betweenâ€"A banquet was held at {he residence of Mr. Henry Jennings, on Lot 26. Con. 6, of the Township of Mark-- ham. on Tuesday the lat. March, in celeâ€" bration of his seventieth birthday, There were present seven sons and three danghtersâ€"two sons and one daughter being absent. Five of the sons present were accompanied with their wives, and two of the daughters with their husbands. Mr. Jennings has forty-two grandchildren, sei’enteen of whom attended the feast, who with the addition of Mr. Frank Watson fermed a company of about thirty-ï¬ve. all 'of whom enjoyed themselves splendidly throughout the day. MKGISTRATES’ Gonnaâ€"John Sinclair was arrested on a warrant issued by Jas. Robinson, J. P., and brought before Messrs Robinson, Wales and Patterson. J. PIS, on Friday 11th inst, charged with stealing grain. the property of D. W. Gemlo, from am at the Nipissing station on March 2nd inst. Mrs. Armsden. wife of the section Boss, swore she had seen Sinclair carrying grain in a pail from cars at the station, and it wah principally her evidence that ï¬onvicted the thief. Sinclair was com- ihltted and sent to Toronto Gaol to await his trial. When Constable Marshall went to make the arrest Sinclair’s wife told him that her husband was not at home and threatened to have Marshall arrested for breakimy into the house, but the constable found Sinclair hiding behind a bed and secured him.
