Richmond Hill Fair. A BREEZE FOR THE LAD’IIB. To the Editor of the Ste. â€"l had the pleasure of attending “Richmond Hill Agricultural Spring Fair" on the 24th of May, and l certainly think grout praise is due to the officers for their cmdinltty, Zeal and attention. in every den pnrttnent. i am not going to make any Complaints about the ladies department but i Certainly did think the nt'ic'les shown were very few. but the quality very crediu able. The good people, (and even the churches.) in liichmn'id Hill me very high- ly favtired. in tact well paid for any trouble. they might take. in sending goods for ex-- hihitinn [ think that, the ladies in the village alone could fill that building with all the niCe things tmnginahe. thus making it very pleasant to visitors Then the butter and bread department should be better patronized. If eve:y body would look to the tact of the honor of taking a prize. more than the actual monev itself. it. certainly would be better. But if the Rich- mond liill people‘will take upon themselves to raise ninety five dollars ($95) extra. so that the prize list, could be enlarged, I will add fire more to make it one hundred doll-- ars ($100.) Yours Respectfully, Jesse's DleoRTfl. Toronto. Ho has held that Professorship ever since, and had acquired it very extensive prim-- tics in Bombay, his reputation muk‘ing him much in request. To this "fifth quarter 0. the globe," as an Irish writerhns culled it,thc mother country sends many things it people do not wunt, and the con- sequences to frequently are an over-stocked market ands depressor] trnde. From this cue-- gory we beg. leave, however, to exclude two articles-the two celebrated remedies of Professâ€" or Holloway. Throughout Attstrnlusin they are now at a premium. Tho 'l’ills and Ointment are considered the most profitable commodities that, can be taken to the diggins, its their cfl‘ cncy in the diseases common in the gold region is well known to every nugget-hunter, and they are therefore eagerly hought up at any price by those toilet-s after the “mnmmon of unrighteous- , ness." For bilious fever and all disorders of the l liver and bowels which prevail on the nuriterous soils of the interior. the Pills up ear to be u . genitive, immediate and invaris ile cure. We l ave seen returned‘gold hunts-rs from the “digg- ing,” and their reports on this hand are uniform. Nor is the testimony less conclusive in relation to the Ointment, as n menus of relieving rheu- matism and neu- nigin, and healing the wounds, abrasions, contusions, A'c , incident to a. hard life in the Wilderness. In short, every one in "the bush” looks upon Hollowey‘s two prepara- tions as neuflicient medicine chest for all the disorders of his outer and inner men. He knows, for he has winterod with them and summsmd. with them beyond the settlements, that they are his surest reli tube in sicknaas at all seasons and under all circumstances. Almost every digger has some anecdote to relate of the cures they have performed. Limbs saved from mortifics- tion, ulcers preserved from congreno, contracted joints relaxed, liver disease arrested, dysentry and dinrrhcns. curedâ€"these are their trophies. In fact they are among the good things of which we cannot have too much, and although the imn ports at present are so large as almost to be in- credible, still the denmnd keeps in advance of the supply. Furnished with these remedies tho digger and the settler have little need of medical advice, for it seems hey 0nd question that their curative effects cover the whole circle of diseases and a large portion of the chttpter of accideutl. Of What use is success to the digger, if. when fortune is achieved, he (lies beside his hood? and how many lives thit Wore sacrificed in the early days of the gold discoveries, might have been snved by these inest-imablo preparations. t ~Tnn DIGGER.
