HALL UBILEE Canadian Province says that althouin the crop this year has been excellent in quality it nearly all grades No.2 hard. This complaint is also heard throughout, the Province. Upon beTng asked whether this was due to inferiority of the wheat, the gentleman referred to denied it emâ€" phatically. The grain this year was of quite as good a quality as that grown last sear, which nearly all graded No. 1 hard. The real trouble was in the standard, which had been raised conâ€" siderably, so that wheat which in formâ€" er years would easily grade No. 1 now falls in the second grade. As a result. many farmers are getting: two cents a bushel less than they would it' last year’s standards were yet in force. A Hint to Housekeebers. Mrs. Rohert Williamson, ot' Glenila, Parry Sound, Unt.,says, "I could not. keep house without Uagyard’s Yellow Oil at hand. I have used it in my family for eroup, sore throat, and a cut foot and can highly recommend it to everybody.” SToNE TYPE.â€"-An ingenious inventor hasjust completed experiments which show the practicability of making stone type. These are, of course, of large size, to match wood type. The material is an artificial stone, pressed into moulds and then hardened, afterwards being polished on the surface. He predicts a great future for the material. There will he no warping and no expansion or contraction, and each font will be exâ€" actly the same as that preceding. It was a perfect jam, and those farthest from the door were making frantic efforts to get served, but the men in posit-~ ion would not yield a foot, as they knew that they had only a few minutes to “ fill up,” anti there was no other saloon within six blocks. In the ‘ljugjr department,’ where I struggled to get my lager, there wasa worse jam than in the bar, but the custom-- ers were principally women. sent there in most cases by their brutes of husbands who, too proud to be seen carrying a. ‘ growler ’ themselves, will permit their wives to do it for them. I saw several women in that crowd who could not have been less than useventy years of age. and I also saw several who had not reached womanhood, all wantâ€" ‘ing whiskey or beer. There were five bar-- tenders waiting on the crowd. and the 10-- ceipts of the day over that bar, I was after-- wards told, reached one hundred and fifty dollars.
