RE-UNION.â€"The entertainmentgiven by Will E. Burgess, of Listowell, last Monday evening, under the auspices of the Mechanics’ Institute was a success. The Masonic Hall was full to the door and Mr. Burgess kept the audience laughing nearly the whole time. His ventriloquism was splendid, especially the “spring chicken.†He was loudly applauded many times and all felt they had received the worth of their 150. Had Mr. Burgess been assisted by our local talent with music, as was expected, it would have been much better. SERMONâ€"Rev. J. M. Cameron, of Toronto, did duty on Sunday morning last in the Presbyterian Church, preach- ing an excellent Sermon upon the duties of Christian life. His text was taken from the 30th chapter of Jeremiah. The church of which the Rev. gentle- man was formerly pastor has during the past summer been sold for the use of the French Catholics. The congregation are building a new one upon Oak Street, in the east end of the city. So much has the congregation over which the Rev gentleman is overseer increased that from time to time the former church had added additions until at last it was resolved to sell the old and build a new one.
