BARBIE ADVANCE:â€"â€"One of the strangest things to make a revenue out of is the fees collected in the Division Court. The Ontario Government re~ eeives nearly 810,000 a year from this source. As the losers in these court cases usually pay the costs, this revenue is made out. of the poor and unfortunate class. This is emphatically making money out of dishonesty, misfortune and poverty. COUNTY COUNCIL. â€" The York County Council is a plain, matterâ€"ofL fact organization, with no debt to speak of and a horror of expenditure, Howâ€" ever, it does not waste time on matters which do not concern the county. Last year it refused to hear the Antiâ€"Poverty Society, this year it refused to hear anything about the Jesuit Bil], but went right along attending to its tollâ€"gates and making provision for sheep killed by dogs. WANZER SUMMER COOKER. :- An experimental dinner was cooked Tuesday afternoon at 98 King street west, the Toronto ofliee of R. M. Wanzcr & 00., Hamilton, to illustrate the advantages of the “ Wanzer Summer Cooker.“ The menu consisted of nine pounds of roast beef, 3 seven pound leg of lamb, four pounds of salt-water salmon, a chicken and vegetable, potatoes, onions and ap plus. This food was all put in the oven at the same time, given 2% hours, and was all taken out at once. Nothing was overdone, but; everything nicely cooked, The cost of fuel for this excellent spread was only one and a half cents, and the vegetables odors were not mixed in any way. Quite a. large number of persons called in to see the experiment, and ex- pressed surprise at the simple rules to which cooking had been reduced. The whole outfit consists of a Wanzer lamp and a tin drum containing apartments for the Various dishes. Some might be surprised that fish, which only requires halfan hour’s cooking, should be left in for hours, but as it is placed in the top apartment, it is really only cooked for hall" an hour, Other dishes are regulated in the same manner, the roasts occupying the ground floor. The lamp and oven occupy very little space. The eontrivance is sold for $12. and is bound to meet with a ready sale.â€"Globe. FARMERS or WEST YORK.â€"The West York Farmers’ institute held a successful meeting.r at Woodbridge yes- terday. Dr. J. T. Gilmour, M.L.A., and N. The heavy rain in the forenoon no doubt pre- vented some from attending that would otherwise have been there. Four team loads, with single rigs, started off about 2 o'clock, returning home about 9, after having spent an enjoyable afternoon. About 1840 Miss Innes died near Edinburgh. leaving two millions of personal property end four millions of heri- table estate, having made disposition in trust to her nearest kin whomsoever. Sev- eral heirs have come forward and been admitted, but it is claimed that the principal heir was one Robert Innes. who landed at Pictou,N.S,in the ship Hector, lhe first immi- grant ship from Scotland, that ever touched at that port. The heirs of Robert [noes include the Christies, Shipleys, Mills, Rip- leys and Atkinson families, now located in Amherst, River Herbert. Boston and other parts. There are about seventy interested parties. Mr. Atkinson has secured a copy of the deceased lady’s trust deed and other valuable documentsl evidence. He has visited Trnro and Halifax searching regis- ters and it is proposed to send a delegate to Scotland to investigate further. Miss lnnes was of a miserly disposition and an account of her death, which appeared in the St. John Observer of 1840, states that she fell down a cellar stairs and broke her nook. Mrs. Wm.
