Sufferers are not generally aware that these diseases are contagious, or that they are due to the presence of living parasites in the lining membrane of the nose and eustachian tubes. Microscopic research, however, has proved this to be a. fact, and the result of this discovery is that a. simple remedy has been formulated where- by catarrh, catarrhal deafness and hay fever are permanently cured in from one to three simple applications made at home by the patient once in two Weeks. NEW A DVERTISEMENTS. {film @1an flemm. Richmond Hlll. Ont. ‘w‘nieh an interesting program will be rendertd, but as full arrangements have not been completed we cannot give the particulars. There has been a great improvement in the appearance of the building since Mr. Warren Hewison and his men have completed their work. The Church, which is cruciform in shape, with a splendid groined gothic ceiling, has been treated in a most taste- f'ul manner. The panels are tinted a very light bufl‘ color with a slight green- ish tinge, while the groins are in quite contrast of colors, which has really a beautiful efl'ect; the hollow part is done a rich maroon color while the mouldings on both sides are filled in with a pure terracotta shade, The cornice around‘ the top of walls is also terra cotta, while} the truss blocks are done a stone color, the quiet shade of which shows 01f the} cornice to great advantage. The rosettes at thejunetion of the groins as also the ventilators are done a'pale celestial blue, which seems quite in harmony with the stained glass of the windows. The large gothic arch separating the church proper from the organ chamber has been done up in party shades which harmon- izes well with the rich pale green of the walls, a shade which has a pretty effect against the varnished wood and the rich terracotta oi' the cornices. The walls of the organ left are colored a salmon tint, but a gloom pervades the organ chamber which is quite a contrast from the well-lighted church. The Lecture ltoom ceiling is treated in the panels a little lighter than the church, but the groins are difl'erent, viz; The hollow CHURCH REâ€"OPENING. -â€" The re- opening of’ the Richmond Hill Metho- disb Church after being cleaned, kalsoâ€" mined and varnished, will be held on Sunday and Monday, Jan. 19th and 20th. The Rev. J. U. Spears, of Mono Road, who will, most likely, be the com- ing Superintendent of this circuit, has kindly consented to conduct the services both morning and evening. On the Monday following a grand tea-meeting. will be held in the Lecture-Room, after THE LUCKY GUESSERs.â€"The guess- ing and gift enterprise at The Fire Proof closed last week. On Thursday evening twelve of the business men met tun- mid-w“-_..£.â€" sen, broke the seal on the jar, and counted the beans. The counting was very carefully done and it was found 1 that 3,547 beans were in the jar. The Ibox containing the guesses was then opened and all over or under 3,000 were thrown out, then all outside of 3,500, and so on until the lucky numbers were found as follows :â€"-The exact number, 3.547, was guessed by Miss Helena Wiley, winning the $40 gold watch. The next nearest guess was 3,549, by Miss Jennie Wiley, taking the $30 silk dress. Three guesses of 3,550 were found to be the next nearest but the. preference was given to the one guessing this number first. By taking them acâ€" . cording to ,date Mrs. A. R. Innes won the dinner set, Mrs. H. Rumble the handsome dress robe, and Mr. W. D. Powell the chamber set. After this was finished the gentlemen present were treated to an oyster supper and a very pleasant time‘ was spent. This enterâ€" prise of Mr. Atkinson has certainly been a grand success in every way; everything has been done fairly and we are sure all are satisfied. To OUR SUBSCRIBERSâ€"The SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT which appeared’in our columns sometime since, announcing a special arrangement; with Dr. B. J. KENDALL 00., ot‘Enoshurgh Falls, Vt., publishers of“ A Treatise on the Horse and his diseases,” whereby our subscrib- ers were enabled to obtain a copy of that valuable work FREE by sending their address to B. J. KENDALL 00., (and enclosing a twoâ€"cent stamp for mailing same) is renewed for a limited period. We trust all will avail themselves of the opportunity of obtainâ€" ing this valuable work. To every lover of the Horse it is indispensable, as it treats in a simple manner all the diseases which afl‘lict this noble animal. Its phenomenal sale throughout the United States and Canada, make it standard authority. Mention this paper when‘ sending/or “ Treatise.” No. 23 J. H. Starr, of Toronto, 8. very energetic and popular man, appealed earnestly to his congregation to do their duty to the church and pay the debt, and on the next Sunday morning the response to his appeal was most liberal and satisfactory, the amount subscribed that day reach- ing the handsome sum of $24,000, leaving a trifling balance of' a little over $10,000 still due. This is said to be the largest sum raised in one day by any Methodist church in the Dominion. Tononro Renewâ€"The Methodists of Victoria B.C., recently built; a large and handsome church, the old structure being altogether too small to meet the requirements of the rapidly growing and prosperous congregation. The new site cost $12,250 and the building $45,000. To meet this expenditure they had the proceeds of the sale of the old premises, which yielded only $22,500, leaving a balance of $34,750. The pastor of the church. Rev. J. E. Starr, son of Rev. HAD N0 VOICE IN THE MATTER.â€" The Tribune attempts to make capital against the Mayor and Council out of the fact that the statement of accounts for the year shew 36 paid to A. Bruce for attending the Court of Revision. The same statement shews $43.90 paid to a Toronto constable and $85.84 paid to Town Clerk R. J. Leigh. These amounts were paid under an order- from the Judge and the Mayor and Council1 had no option in the matter. The Judge gives this order under one of Mr. Mowat’s statutes, of which, of course the Tribune approves. Mayor Glen- denan advocates doing away with all this eXpensive and troublesome maâ€" chinery for getting up voters’ lists, both in Ontario and Dominion elections. Registration of voters three months beâ€" fore an impending election would simpli- fy matters very muchâ€"Comet. C(iMPLETED.-â€"â€"Messrs. The room being capitally lighted has a ver chaste appearance. The halls and lobbies are done in a warm stone color tint. The woodwork has all been re-varnished. Altogether the place has an appearance of comfort and ele- gance that in even large cities would be hard to find its equal. Considering the vastnmount of scaffolding required, and the dangerous nature of the work, it says much For the earefulness of Mr. Hewison and those under him that no accident has happened. The Methodist congre- gation have really great reason to be proud of their church, and they deserve credit for their energy in going on with a work which other churches might do well to copy: THE CONCRETE is ofi'ering big dis- counts off the balance of their Fur Goods.
