MUWAT GUETH BACK The vaernment Sustained The General Election on Tuesday was one of the most keenly contested that ever took place in this Province. There were losses and gains on both sides, but the Govern» ment majority was considerably diminished, which perhaps will not do any harm, as they have a. good working majority. The fact that the Mowat Administration is sustained by such 9. handsome majesity should be a severe rebuke to the muting of those Journ- als who have been so boastineg prognosti< eating a grand victory for the Opposition. The country and its interests are committed to a good and honest Government for four vents longer, and thetrust will not be be- trayal, but Ontario’s flights will be defend- ed. On the Sabbath sermons were delivered by Mr. John Macdonald, of Toronto, in the morning, and by Rev. H. Dewart, I)£ D., editur of the Guardian, in the evening. ’On Monday an excellent tea, provided by the ladies of the congregat- ion, was served in the Lecture Room: .Lhr _L .u.., , Owing to there being so many other atâ€" tractions in the neighborhood, the mana- gers anticipated but a small share of patronage. and arranged accordingly, but to their very agreeable surprise their short extension of tables and corporal ‘ guard of waiters were overwhelmed with ‘ an unexpected rush of pedestrians and sleiuliing parties, out for an evening’s enjoyment. An extraordinary amount of activity, however, was displayed, the ladies were equal to the occasion, and the consequent unavoidable delay was good hnmoredly borne by those who were smnewhat late in' getting served. \Ve have no doubt that in future the ladies of the congregation will have more faith in the liberalin of the public; and when they make their next call for financial aid to assist them in liquidating the church debt, will provide for a large rather than a small response to their invitation. 0f ‘ provisions there was an ample supnly and 1- H,; A. +‘nn Majority for Major Gray . . . . New and successful treatment for this diseas'e,-with other facts of imput- ance. to the people. TO THE EDITOR OF THE GAZETTE. DEAR Sm,â€"~Having learned that a severe case of diptherin had been very strangely cured after all hopes of recovery had been abandoned, I determined to obtain the facts in this case, that they might be published through your journal; for the benefit of any who may be afflicted with this terrible dis- ease. For this purpose I visited West Furn- lmm, P. Q., where I found the restored man (Air. Ameda Charmer) who gave me the following facts. After a very severe attack of this dreaded disease, and although re- ceiving skiliul medical treatment, M'th nino days he had become so bad he coulil not swallow when his physicians abandoning all hopes of his rccovel'y, it was decided as n. last resort, totry Ken-lull’s Spavin Cure. dl‘liis remedy Was applied externally to the throat, and after being reduced onc'Lhali with water, was used as a gargle. Continm ing this treatment, he found, to his great joy, that at the end of two days he m A better, and in less than a week he was pen manently relievedâ€"indeed cured. LlUl EU. ‘ . . In conclusion i Would express ob'fii‘gzitiqn to the gentlemen who‘ have so kindly undireely aided me in my investigationsmnd the satisfaction I experienced in obtaining so good, a‘ report hf what is being accomplished by K’éndnll’s Spawn Cure in the flourishing Dominion of Canada. and would express the hope that, it; may be but the beginning of It. most succéssful career in the mitigation or many of the ills to which man and. Beast. are subject. E. R. TOWLE. stt Berkshire, Vt, April 2nd, 1682 DIPHTHERIA. Fa‘om the [Montreal Gaz‘ctic; [Single copies, 3 cts. No. 35.
