A pound can of each powder was taken, the total ieavenlng power or volume in each can calculated, the result being as indicated. This practical test for worth by Prot. Schedler only proves what every observant consumer of the Royal Baking Powder knows by practical experience, that, while it costs a few cents per pound more than ordinary kinds, it is far more economical, and, besides, aflords the advant- age of better work. A single trial of the Royal Baking Powder will convince any tair minded person or these facts. . - '- While the diagram shows some of the alum powders to be of a higher degree of strength than other powders ranked below them, it is not to be taken as indicat- tag that they have any value. The Lm-rnase match between the second twelve. of the Young Canadians and the Stonflville club was played last Saturday on the grounds of the latter. Thule was cunsidernble difï¬culty experi- cliCed in getting a Richmond Hill team togetlivl‘, however, the f0110wing men were ï¬nally secured and steamed away in M r. Gaby’s van at half past twelve, noon. The team was composed of H. McCon- nghy, Goal, 1:. McDonald, Point. F. Mc- Conaghy. cover point, J. Hafl'ey, W. Munshaw, A. Powell, Defence Field, '1‘. Pudget. Piper, Inside Home. u The :zame was started at 4 15, and last- ed two hours The ï¬rst and third games were taken by the Young Canadians, each in about a quarter of an hour. The 2nd game was Secured by Stoufl'ville after a __A_AA__ ,u‘ iight of more that three quarters of an 1 hour. The wind was blowing from the south, but all the games were taken at the south goal against the wind. The Stoufl'ville men were heavier than their opponents. They played a good game, their defence being very strong. They could not haVe had better men than their goal, point and cover point. The Rich- mond Hill goal was well protected by McConaghy, who did some excellent play. Our team all played well with the except- ion of a little roughness in a couple of cases. Some of the Stouflville men play- ed more roughly than necessary. The proceedings was varied by a. couple of scraps. Piper accidentally got his ’crosse between the legs of the opposing goal- keeper, who claimed afoul. This, Piper resented, whereon the crowd rushed in, ur ‘ ..‘the excitement the two ï¬eld cap- tains grabbed one another by the throat, bestowed omnrobrious epithets on one an- other and shook their ï¬sts in one an- other’s faces. On another occasion a Markham gentleman called Mr. Manning of the Stoutl'ville team, a perverter of the truth. Blows were immediately exchang- ed and a. general melee ensued. There was a large number of Markham men pre- sent to witness and applaud the defeat of the Stoufl'ville team. We hope to see the return match soon. The positions of Firld Captain and Umpire were ï¬lled satisfactorily by Messrs. Atkinson and Langstafl‘. STOUFFVILLE \s.
