She had blonde hair and wore a. navy blue flannel dress, dark bodice and yellow stripped underskirt black stockings and laced shoes. Near the body was found a. reticule in which were three keys, a. pencil and four white packet hand- kerchiefs. The explorers of the Lake Superior com- pany on Friday last, near lshpemiug, Mich, found an eight inch vein of quartzite carry- ing free gold in immense quantities. During that time, it appears, about 2,750,000 square miles of territory have been acquired by purchase and annexation, at a. cost, not counting the expense of wa.r, of $52,000,000.
