We come again to the readers of THE LIBERAL with u plea for the little rufiereru In this praisewmthy inelitution. For some years past. the children in the Hospital have been maie glad, and a gleam of bnightuess thrown into their Eastvr Day by the offerâ€" ings sent from kind friends in this village and vicinity. We hope for a continuance of the kind and gensrou-i liberality which has made this ni’haring so successful in the punt. We ask in His name, who has said: " Inasmuch as ye have done it unm one of the least of these. ye have done it unto Me." The only question which brought about a discussion Was in raterence to the advisability oi holding promotion exams. in the Public Schools at Easter. Mr. Kirk- pnlrick, the Principal, explained that on ac- count of the prevalence ol the measles at Ullristmumlie usualpromotion exumiuutious were not held. He thonght. humever, that the promotions had not better be made until the close of the term, as to promote now would dis-tonnage the olnsnes. MLNuughton favored an examination at Easler, as none hull been held since before mldmmzner. It was finally decided on motion of bliaNewlon, seconded by Mr. McConaghy, that the pro- motion exams. be postponed until next mid- summer. No. 47 Uurnblll, Burton, Maul, moels obiecm-ns raised bv skeptics against the Bible and Christianity. and meets them admirably. The four little pamphlets are exoelleut rem- ingâ€"sxcellent Wllb respect both to matter and to style. Each of the perlurmuucrs has been written by a man who knew his sub- jrot, and, of course, how to delend it against yretuudml scientific, moral, or historical utfliculties. The Bible is shown to be in urcurd with science (uot l‘nlse science), ethics, and history. We have risen from perusal of these brochures reseaured that the faith has nothing to lest lrom geology, history, or moral philosophy, as indeed how could it, seeing that the Bible, nature, and the mural law are the work of the only living and true God. We heartily commend the publica tious of Mr. Hastings to those who enjoy a go'ud polemic enlisted in the most worthy of all employmeuwâ€"the defence of the sacred truth.
