Moved by Mr. Sanderson, seconded by Mr.Savage. that the request of the Board of Education for the increased accommoâ€" dation required for the high school be re- ceived, and that the council take it into t.‘ oir most serious considerationâ€"Carried. As there is very little time to spare, correspondence should be entered incl) at once with the Rev. H. 0. Dixon, box 523, Toronto P. 0., who has the matter in charge. In order to give some of the poor children of the city an opportunity of gettingalittla fresh air during the hot summer months and enable them to get away into the country. where they will get plenty of good milk and bread, a proposal has been made to start a fund for that purpose, by one person under- taking to send 60, durng the latter part of June and all of July and August, in batches 0t 10 or 15 at a time, for ten dayseach, to farm houses, where they will be well cared for. Their railway fare will be paid both ways, but only those can be accepted who are vouched for by Christian workers, and who are really in need of a change. They reported to the council that the high school inspector, Mr Hodgaon, said that, more big-la school accommodation must be provided. Mr. Coombs gave his calculations us to the probable cost of increased expenses thereof. The clerk read the minutes of the 12th of‘ March, which were approved. The following accounts were read : H. We would draw the attention of the school teachers of this section of country to the fact that as usual good prizes Will be given at the Spring Fair to be held here on the Queen's Birthday, for Writing and Drawing. Formerly each school competing had to pay an entrance fee of $1.00, but this rule is abolished, and now any public school pupil can compete iree. Copy books must be certified to by the teacher.
