Mrs. (Dr.) Rulherford, of Aurora. died suddenly on Friday morning. She was standing on the station platform awaiting the train for Toronto, when she fell. and ex- pired in a few minutes. She was on her way to the Commencement exercises in con- nection with the Toronto University, to wit- ness the conferring of the degree of B. A. on her daughter. Her sudden death was a great shock to the citizens of Aurora and vicinity. A public meeting in the interests of Mr. N. C. Wallace, the leeral-Concervative candidate for West. The annual Strawberry Festival in con- nection wi‘h the Methodist church, Maple, will he held on Dominion Day. There will be addresses, music, readings, etc.. and the committee have secured the services of the Richmond Hill Band. This promises to be the best festival yet held. A Garden Party in connection with the Beadford Sabbath School will be held on “ Hillcrest Lawn,” the beautiful grounds of Mr. Jonah Leek. Headford, on Thursday evening. June 2511:. Games and amuse- ments provided. Tea will be served from 5 to 7. The Richmond Hill Band will be in attendance. Commencing at 8 o'clock a. musical and literary entertainment will be given (or which the following artists have been engaged: Mr. and Miss Noble, in- strumental musicians, Toronto; Miss Jennie Brooke, soprano, Don Mills; Miss Mary Duncan, elecutionist. Klinck, a cricket match will take place between the married and the single men of Victoria Square; at 3.30 a baseball match between Samnel Benjamin & Co’s. Toronto, and Unionville teams; junior football match. between two public schools; senior football matches, between Fourth Royals and Dairytown. StoufiVille and Gormley, and Markham and little York.
