'The Toronto papers announce the ‘death, on Saturday. the 27th of Feb- ruary, of James Austin Esq., Pres- ident of the Dominion Bank of To- ronto, at the age of 84. Mr. Austin Was born in the town of Tanderagee. County of Armagh Ireland and came to “ Little York " (now Toronto) when a boy. He served his 'time in the printing office of the Colonial Advocate, published by the late Mr. William Lyon McKenzie, .and was the “ youngest apprentice ” 'in that oflice in the year 1830. He subsequently worked as a journey- iman -printer in the Patriot office, at the time our postmaster (Mr. M. Teefy) was serving his apprenticeâ€" :ship there. Mr. Austin afterwards embarked in the grocery business in partnership with the late Mr. Patrick Foy, which firm was very successful, «and accumulated considerable wealth.
