D.G.L., writes of “The Death of the Queen,” Arthur H. A. Colquhoun of "The Queen‘s Prime Ministers.” and Richard T. Lancelivld of "The Prince of \Vales’ Y' '. to Canada.” E. J. Toker, of the census stat? of 1891, gives some interesting reminiscences under the title "How a Census is Taken." Among the lighter articles are "A Honey-moon in a Sailing Dinghy," and short stories by \V. A. Fraser. Esther-Talbot Kingsmill and Harold J. Temple Hill. Every article, story and poem in the number is written by a Canadian. The cover in black and purple is suitable to the occasion and is perhaps the onlv cover of a (Jan- adian periodical to be printed in the royal mourning colors. The Lilerary Society in connection with the High School assembled in IForm l. at 3.301). tn. on Thursday of last Week. with President Atkinson in the chair. After the, business part of the twigrarnme was tinished, Mr. J. Gardener took the President’s chair and made a capital chairman. keeping the Very best of order, notwithstand- ing the fact that there. was alarge crowd present. Speeches were made by Messrs. F. J. Johnston (teacher), 1). Derry, \V. J. Atkinson, and A. McNaughton. The solos given by Misses Laura Duncan and Rene \\'right were well received. The High School Glee Club rendered a number of excellent. songs. At last came the debate, “Resolved that the. United States is a better place tolch in than Canada.” The. aflirmative was taken by R. Kerswill and J. McNaughton, and the negative by A. Reid and E. Newton.
