Professor Robertson, Dominion Dairying Commissioner, has been telling the Agr’cultura’l Committee of the House of Commons what is being done in chicken fattening experi- ments. He looks for an enormous trade in the shipping of dressed fut- toned poultry to the English market, a good start having already been made. He stated too that a splendid market may be found in Montreal for these chickens. This of course is practically a new industry, called in- to existence and made possible by the progressive, up-to-date cold stor- age policy of the Department of Ag- riculturc. 1 Fred Jackes 2 Thos. The men who volunteered to go out to South Africa as a part of Baan Powell’s Constabulary, have embark- ed for their longjourney or are about ready to start from Halifax. There are nearly a thousand of them, and it is said they are a fine leoking lot of young stalwarts. Their general good conduct and their soldierlv bearing have been freely commented on.
