RICHMOND Hint. Own. Feb. 7. 19m The Conservative Government in British Columbia has been returned with an increased majority. They had the cities of that province at their back, and the result indicates that the Labor and socialist vote went the same way # Local Option in Weston carried by the necessary 60 per cent. major- ity. with five votes to spare. The liquor interests appealed on a techni- cality but in a recount before Judge Morgan on Tuesday the result was not altered by the scrutiny. Three hotels in that village will therefore not be allowed to sell intoxicating liquors alter the first of May next. A warm discussion 'will doubtless take place in the Local House when the present liquor law is under tire. In fact some of the speeches will be hot if the Whitney Government shows a determination to stand by the tliree-tifths' majority. It will be difficult to convince temperance people that in a local option contest [00 votes on the side of the liquor men have the same weight as 149 votes on the side. of temperance. ___._.__ BOARâ€"I) or EDUCATION.
