Mr. Gen. Metcalf happened with a. serious accident last; Friday. He was standing on a. ladder on the south side of the Methodist, Church taking ice from the eave-trough when a large piece of ice, pwhably 300 103.. came down the valley striking Mr. Metcalf with great force, breaking three of his ribs. The lightning was vivid in and around Richmond ‘Hill, but the storm was much more severe as re- ported in other sections. The electric lights in Toronto were rendered use- less for fifteen minutes during which time some of the church congregations sat in darkness. A Presbyterian church at Drummond Hill- was struck, some of the congregation stunned, and the shed at the rear set on fire. Heavy storms are also reported from VVel- land, Allanburg, Bowmanville, Belle- ville’. Brantford. Cannington, Port. Hope, Kinmount and other places.
