At) a joint meeting held some few evenings ago of the managers and the members of the Ladies’ Aid of the Presbyterian Church the managers were agreeably surprised to receive from the “Aia’ one hundred and thirty-five dollars, which was sufficient to pay off all theindehtnesss on the Church and Church property. The managers take this nppnrtunity to thank the ladies for their very sub- stantial assistance. Some eighteen 0f the Brethren of Rgchmond‘ Lodge, A. F. &A. Over fifty Masons took part in the parade. The ice cream social held on the Presbyterian Church Lawn bv the “Guild” last Friday evening was a ronounced success. The only fault to Be found. the supply of ice cream was too small. The Band added greatly to the enjoyment of the evening. The grounds were nicely decorated with Japanese lanterns. The Rev. W. J. Creighton, M.A., Vicar of St. Mary’s Church. Toronto, preached in St. John’s Church, Jeffer- son. last Sunday morning. and in the evening occupied the pulpit of the Anglican Church. Aurora. and disâ€" coursed to the Masonic Brethren of that. Town who had there assembled. BARN RAISING. Last Friday afternoon Mr. Thus. Teasdale of Concord had a. successful barn raising on his farm. The di- mensions of the bmn are 76ft}: 40ft. The cement work was done by Mr. J. Watson of Layskny, and the woudwurk by Smith Bros. of Edgeley. The captains at the raising were Mr. H. Fisher and Mr. F. Jahnstun, victory being with the former. A bountiful supper, including strawberries, was provided, and was enjuyed by all. The Richmond Hill Board of Educ- ation met in the High School Tuesday evening. The H. S. Inspector’s report was read, and, though in all respects not very satisfactory, taken as a whole may be considered a fairly good report. The school has .sufiered much during the year owing to the illness of one of the assistants, and the attendance was materially affected by the establish- ment of a continuation class at Eglington. The standard of the equip- ment is below the minimum. The Board also appointed a committee to wait on the Ministers of Agriculture and Education re the establishment of an Agricultural Department in connec- tion with the High School. The com- mittee to be composed of Chairman Hill, Secretary McDonald and Trustee Redditt. The salaries of the Public School Teachers was raised fifty dollars all around. A Strawberry Festival, under the auspices‘of Richmond Hill Epworth League, will be held Saturday next, July 2. on the spacious lawn of Mr. Amos Wright. in this village. Speeches will be given by Rev, G. S. Smith, M.A., Ph.D.; Rev. W. L. Trench, B.A., and Rev. E. C. Currie, B.A. In the evening the village band will furnish a choice programme of music. Tea served, commencing at; 5 p.m. Ice cream also provided. Admission to tea, 25 cents. All are invited. A. F. & A.
