’y‘ z ' v, ,w. .y.. .f A man who} enjoys a smoke can" surely cleim the right to smoke in his own homeror in the home of any? body else if the smoke is not dis- agreeable to others. I A man who ac- cepts an invitation to a‘ “Smoker†has" no reason to complain if‘he ï¬nds the atmosphere disagreeable to him, because “he must know before he goes what the nature of the enter- tainmentwill be. There are certain places, however, in which we believge' men should use discretion. It is quima commbn for ladies to attend po- litical meetings. {l‘his is quite prop- er. They‘wfhuld'hot do" 26*if‘ they†thought for a moment that smoking Would be allowed in their presence. There is no good. reason why ladies should not attend public meetings where candidates for municipal “honâ€" one are nominated. , We feel sure that had the ladies been present at the nomination meeting Monday eve- "hing of last week they would I. have been interested in the speeches of the various candidates. But no wo- man of any dignity would have sat in thstsmoky atmosphere. The hall was literally ï¬lled with smoke, and it is safe tosay there were ten smo- kers to one non-smoker. - Every citizen who wished to show that he took an interest in the muni- eipal questions had a right to attend. Some of our local clergymen were present in the early part of the meet- ing. but we understand that they as Well as'others left before the close, the atmosphere was so cï¬'ensive. Would it not be well for our Village Fathers to see in future that smoking in public meetings is not allowed any more than it is in concerts or other entertainments. Cured of Kidney Trouble Mrs. Alex. Mum-9, of James St†Oxford, N.S., says: “Booth‘s Kidney Pills cured our little (laughter, Uhrls- tian, age six years, of many symptnms of kidney weakness. She complained of» sore buck. the. kidney secretions were frequent. and uncontrollable, especially at night. Her stnmach was Weak and her appetitepuor. This caused her to have 'frvquent headaches, and the least ex- ertion would tire her. W'e had tried munv remedies, but she did nut im-' prove. Finally we learned uf Bonth’s Kid nev Pills and pro- cured at box. In a short; time she was well and does nnt now complain about her back, the kidney secretions have be- come normal. and she pla-ys around the house with‘no apparent fatigue.
