g...â€" Ricnmoxn HILL. 01m. MAR. 28. 1912 ____A_.. ._.___..._. . ‘The average min and woman who place a value upon their lives have been kept busy of late years dodging automobiles that were by law al- lowed to run at a speed ten miles an hour in cities, towns and villages, and ï¬fteen miles an hour in country places. And now that the Legisla- ture has passed an act increasing the speed limit to ï¬fteen miles in cities, towns and villages, and twenty miles in the country, pedestrians will need to be doubly alert. Doubtless, those who. are able will also feel inclined to clap on a little more life insurance. M .w...m.___..__ A‘ bill was introduced in the Local legislature this week proposing to give unmarried women and widows holding property in their own names the right tok'vote at Provincial elec- tions. Those women now have the right to vote for reeve, councillors and school trustees. The bill was supported by Mr. Rowell, Leader of the Opposition, and was opposed by the Premier, Hon. J- P. Whitney. The latter in opposing,r the measure declared that “if the question was ever decided it would be decided upon the broad issue of extending the {laminae to all women.†In the discussion which followed the intro duction of the bill not one of the speakers even attempted to show that women who new music municipal elections should not also be allowed to vote at Parliamentary elections.
