Fire broke out Thursday evening in the brick residence belonging to Mr. Robert Clarke. near Elgin Mills. and immediately opposite the Orange 0r- phanage. The Richmond Hill town bell was rung, the ï¬re brigade was called out, and in a few minutee Yonge street 1 was lined with motor cars and other vehiclel. The ï¬re was soon under con trol, and thinking that the danger was over the hundreds of people went to their homes, but the ï¬re again broke out about 1 :.m., completely destroying the home. The house had been vacated only a few days before by Rev. Mr. Trivett. The ï¬re was caused by an electric iron which Mrs. Clarke had been using during the afternoon, end neglected to turn off the current before returning to the city. The building and contents were insured. The funeral of the late Mrs. S. J Capt. James Hill, of Orillia celebrated V“ with his sons. his nintieth birthday, { Sunday, July 6, 1924. Capt. Hill was born in County Anti-in). Ireland, and went to sea. at the emly age of foul teen. During his twenty five yezm; at sun, he visited practically all pal ls of the world, sailing his ships over the seven seas. - spent. forty years on his flu m. Thrice he mourned the loss of u. very dear one. his only daughter dying in 1884, his youngest son. Thomas, of Ctaighnrst in 1918 and his dearly beloved wife in 1915 at the age of 87. At the celebration were gathered five anus with their wives, Capt. Samuel. of Oi-illia: James of Elmvale; David. of Richmond Hill; Allan, of éllismp, audmjnhn. of seas. His other son William, of Buffalo. was unavoidably absent, but four generations of grandchildren were present to do honor to their grandfather.
