Let the women voters of North York be mindful of the ideal of the women voters throughout the entire Dominion who is to raise the standard of Canadian Public Life. By all means get out and vote. Even if you don’t get the dishes washed or the pies made for dinner don’t forget that your one little vote may be the decisive one that swings the whole campaign. And when our Liberal member goes to Ottawa you may have the satis- faction of knowing that it was your vote which gave him victory. One thing that women find very satisfactory about pol- itics is that they are not obliged to vote the same way their husbands do. We are not exactly advising Wives to vote contrary to their husbands Wishes as in some cases this might cause much domestic trouble. But if hubby insists upon voting for the “old campaigner” just because he alâ€" Ways voted for him and because his father before him al- Ways voted that way, just think the matter over and say, “Well, if you have voted for him for twenty-five years it is high time for a change. Let’s give the young chap a chance to show us,,what he can do. He may not know the name of every man, womanand child in North York, but if he sticks at the job for twentyâ€"five years he will learn them too. And remember that his father, Sir Clifford Sifton, was one of the finest statesmen in the Laurier Cabinet.” n--. 7..” L.-.__ y The answer to this question is that the retiring Gov- ernment has to its credit among other thingsâ€"improvement in national finances, reduction in general expenditure. re- duction in taxes on farm implements and motor cars, re- duction in income tax, improvement in national railways, and the return of penny postage. All of which goes to show that the country is slowly but surely working its way back to safety and sanity. And if they accomplished all this in the chaotic years succeeding the war what great things they will do now that the world is settling down once more. The Robb Budget has resulted in benefits to the woman in every home. yv . We, in Canada, scarcely realize how easily we obtained “Votes for Women.” For us there was no need of hunger strikes, picketing, bomb-throwing, destruction of public property etc. to show the Government that we were fit to be given the franchise. When in a time of stress the Govern- ment had need of the women of Canada we were gallantly handed our voteâ€"and we still have it to use as we see fit. It is a powerful weapon for us to use for the good of the country so let us be very careful what we do with it. Women are, perhaps, more likely than men to be abso- lutely fair in their consideration of this serious matter. They are not influenced as much by party politics but do some very serious thinking as to which is the better candiâ€" date to vote for. We women are known to be inquisitive so, naturally, when we are asked to vote for a certain Gov- ernment we say, “Well, What did they do the last time they were in power, for future performance can be judged fairly well by past performance.” .~. .-. A How many women in North York are going to vote on Sept. 14th? We feel sure that everyone who has the priv- ilege is going to make use of it, for the women’s vote is a powerful factor in the politics of. today. 91 ,,,, ,1,L~:“__I Telephone 54 R 2. AT THE CITY LIMITS 3479 YONGE STREET THE YORK MARKET 'cial Limited The Hon. Mr. Robb, the Lib- eral Finance Minisfier, pro- mises further reductions in Taxation. (Every Conservative filember voted against the Liberal Budget.) The Liberal budget abolished the sales tax on many articles, abolished the receipt tax, the bugbear of retail merchants and gave you back penny postage. (The Conservatives voted against giving you the benefit of these reductions.) The Liberal budget helps the Home, that is what matters. (The Conservative Members all voted against it.) (Conservatives in speaking forget to tell you this.) The Liberal budget made Imperial Preference more effective and encouraged greater Empire trade relations. (Every Conservative Member voted against these reductions.) The Liberals reduced the tariffs on automobiles. This cut down the price to the consumer and enabled more people to buy cars. This is good for you, for the workmen engaged in this industry and for the manufacturers. The proof of this fa‘ctâ€"â€"manufacturers of motor cars are selling more cars than ever before and are increasing the size of their factories. (Every Conservative Member voted against reduced tariffs on motor cars.) The Liberals insisted that at least 40% for this year and 50% for 1927 of all parts in any car must be manufactured in Canada if the car manufacturers were. to receive rebates. This is good for the manufacturers of accessories and helps to increase work for Canadian workmen. (Every Conservative‘ Member voted against this Budget.) The Liberals ran the country economically and thus were able to reduce your taxes. This is good for you and the country. Thomhill, Ont The Liberals in 1926 gave the people the most popular budget the country ever had. You wanted that. (Advertisement) Meighen can’t Win! Give King 3 LET ROBE BRING IN THE NEXT BUDGET!
