The winners of the various events were:â€" .‘ .l The annual ï¬eld day of the Richmond Hill High School was held at the town park on Wednesday afternoon. The threatening Weather had the effect of limiting the number of spectators but the students were out in full force and entered in to the various events in large numbers and keen competition was the order of the day. The ar- rangements were carried out in a systematic manner by Principal Stewart and members of the teaching staï¬" assisted by the pupils and the different races and events Were run off with despatch. The re- sult was that the lengthy program of boy’s events was completed and only one or two of the girl’s events remain to be competed for Thursday evening. Some of the marks made by the competing athletes are higher than last year but in some cases do not represent the utmost effort of the contestant in view of the fact that when 'an event was won no further trials for a record were made. Those who won ï¬rst and second place in the events will represent the Richmond Hill High School at the district ï¬eld day at Aurora on Saturday Oct. 9, in which Newmarket, Markham, Richmond Hill and Aurora High schools compete. .r Cimtinued on Page 8 Events For Boys in some cases do not represent View of the fact that when an record were made. A solo was contributed by Miss Olive Switzer and at the conclusion of the afternoon Mrs. Endean served tea. The annual meeting of the Home and School Club was held in the pub- lic School on Tuesday of this week. There was a large attendance and gratifying reports were made of last years work It was reported that dur- ing the Winter months hot cocoa was served to children remaining at the school for lunch, a set of world books was added to the school library and with the assistance of the school board the teacher’s room was com- fortably furnished. The treasurer’s report showed a balance on hand of $80.00 and the members are looking forward to a very succesful year. A resolution was passed to ap- preach the Home and School Club with a view to combining in a series of evening public meetings, these meetings to take the place of the alternate monthly meetings of each society, but in no way to interfere with the separate functioning of the societies; the idea being to decrease the, number of meetings to be attend- ed by many who are members of both societies. It was felt that united in this way, with goch 5595;511:213 and a large attendance, better work could be done by both societies whose in- tetests aims and objects have, after all, very much in common Home and School Club Annual Meeting.
