Jack- son on Friday evening, February 25. Ten tables were played, the Winners being Miss Elvira Roe, Mr. C. H. Snider, Mrs. W. J. Buchanan was a- warded the consolation prize. A col- lection was taken up and quite a sum realized. Lunch was served after which dancing was indulged in by the Young People for a short time. The Trail Rangers held their week- ly meeting Friday evening, February 25th, under the supervision of Mr. Paul D. Snider. The chief business of the night was the monthly elec- tion of offi‘cers as followszâ€"Chief Wil- frid Beasley; Sub chief, Leonard Wea- ver; Tally, Russell Pearson, Cache, Jim Carruthers. Mrs. George C. Jackson assisted by Mrs. William J. Buchanan gave a miscellaneous shower in honor of Miss Mary Whittaker, after a game of progressive euchre, Miss Whittaker was declared the Winner, and it was a complete surprise when the beauti- ful and practical gifts were brought in to her. A dainty luncheon termin- ated the affair. Irish Stew Supper The Women’s Institute here will hold an Irish Stew supper in the Community Hall on Thursday, March 17th. There will also be a play giv- en by the young people of the United Church, Richmond Hill, entitled Bree- zy Point. Supper served from 5.30 to 7.30. Admission to supper and con- cert adults 50 cents children 25 cents. Come and enjoy a treat. After a long illuss Mr. George Henry Rumble passed away at his home on Tuesday of last week. The funeral took place on Friday and was attended by many relatives an friends. The service was conducted by Rev. A. S. Kerr, assisted by Rev. C” H. Bowman The deceased was well known and highly respected and the family have the sympathy of all in their bereavement. The annual sleigh drive of the Sab- bath School of the United Church took place last Wednesday afternoon. 0n the return from the drive supper was served in the school room after which a program was given by local talent with two piano solos by Miss Anna Phipps of Richmond Hill and several readings by Miss Mildred Wright of Willowdale.
