Wealth in this world is just so much baggage to {be taken care of but a culâ€" tivated brain is easy to carry and is a never-failing source of profit and pleasure. A fair compensation for honest service is the best present you gan make a man, and the best gift he can receive. Curtains that are both inexpensive as well as very attractive are made of theatrical gauze which comes in lovely shades of green, blue, rose, vio- let, orange, and gold as well as the most satisfactory natural tone. Plain Philosophy Luck is the dream ,of a simpleton; a wise man makes his own good for- tune. Gratitude is a debt which all men owe and which few repay cheerfully. Impossibilities are scarce. Man- kind has not seen n\ore than half a dozen of them since creation. Happiness consists in being hap- pyâ€"there is no particular rule for it. About all that cunning can do for a man is to make him incredulous. All prudes were once coquettes and only changed in old age. Peanut Butter To make peanut butter the pea- nuts are shelled and ground very fine in a mill. The nuts contain enough natural oil to render them of a‘ but- tery consistency. A little cream wor- ked into a small portion of the butter just before using is an improvement. Are the principles which control me such as will bear God’s sure tests? Do I abâ€" stain from doing wrong because of my reputation, or because I love the good? Does’sin pain me when I am ensnared by it? Has God a large place in my thoughts and feelings?” By the answers we can give to such questions as these and not by any professionof religion or acceptance of any dogma or creed, may we know what our relations are to God, and our hope of a better life. HERRINGTON FINANCIAL AGENT Since thinking is “such an important and necegsary element in the business of life, it should be fully resorted to by all the people, all the «time. Therefore THINK. Let‘s gelâ€"Everybody THINK. Time and money may be saved if one will bufl think when about his immediate task. Matrimonial missteps may be prevented by right and proper thinking. Many careers may be brightened and: made more useful and larger by merely allowing thought to invade the territory of proper execution. In the ofiice, in the shop, in the home, in the social arena, in public places, everywhere, thought would play Well its part. The think shop is one Of the most important properties of the human make-up. Lack of proper thoughts promotes misery, worry, discontent, sadness ,sufl‘ering, ignorance and hundreds of things that would be destroyed rather than promoted. ‘ i The man who thinks is the man who does things efficiently and it is likewise with the woman who thinks. The boy and girl brought up in the habit of careful thinking is the boy and girl who will mean most to Canada. Wounded feelings, shattered careers, demolished hopes, slouchy work determination~to revenge and all sorts and kinds of failures may at once be prevented by the simple application of proper thought. _ Thinking is a human process that is much neglected. People do many things in life entirely leaving out the element of thought. This world would be a much better world, a much better place to live in, if each person would simply put his thinking cap on and wear it at the performance of each, deep, significant, or seemingly in- chisequential.
