Late Mrs. Nathaniel B'zker The funeral of ’ch:x late Mrs. Noth- aniel Baker which teol; nlaee m”! Wedâ€" nesday, August 315t, from her late home on the 2nd 0011., Markham to Heise Hill Cemetery, was largely at tended. The late Mrs. Baker was only in her 45th year. Her maiden name was Minnie Chatterley and she was well known to a host of friends who sincerely mourn her sudden death. The many floral tributes were very beautiful and were evidence of the high esteem in which the deceased was held. She leaves to mourn her death a husband, five sons and three daughters all at home. and one sister Mr. O. L. Wright,- an exhibitor of Rose Comb Rhode Island Reds at the Canadian National Exhibition, was successful in having four birds placed out of six entries winning 1st Young Male, lst 01d Male, 3rd and 4th Pull- -ets. Owing to the large numbers of early hatched birds for the Ottawa Poultry Congress, the quality in all classes was much better than it has been for sometime. Won Prize at Uxbridge Three local rinks attended the U):- bridge bowling tournament on Labor Day and report an excellent time. Thirty two rinks took part in the competition and the rink skipped by Gid Moodie was successful in winning- the second prize with a record of four wins and a. plus of 28 points. The rinks were: C. P. Inspected Roads An ofl‘icial inspection of a number of roads in York County was made on Thursday last, by Warden W.M. Gra- haurfinr and a committee appointed by Ihim, consisting of Reeve W. Gohn, lMarkham; Reeve A. E. Pugsely, {Sutton; and Deputy Reeve W. J. Gardhouse of Etobicoke. At the June session of the County Council several -of the members introduced resolutions that certain roads in the county should be taken into the County Good Roads System, while the county should make grants to- wards the upkeep of a number of other roads. The committee made a thorough inspection of all roads in- eluding~ Richmond Hill and will make a report to the County Council at the November session. If you like him he has personality.
