It is now definitely arranged that there will be a forty foot roadway from the north limits of the'village "to the south line of Baldock’s garage with curbs and gutters as well. The cost of the curbs and gutters and extra pavement in this section Which will be construct- ed as local improvement will be in the neighbourhood of $18,000. A storm sewer will also be constructed on the east side of the tracks will have 2 sections to take care of the surface water. A change has been made in the m‘iâ€" giqal plans anfl ‘fihe‘pavement on the west side of the tracks will have a concrete base instead of the 'black base used on the west side. This is necesâ€" sary in view of the fact that without it there would not‘be a sufficient foun- dation for the road and the Depart- ment of Highways insisted 'on this type of construction. LOCAL COUNCIL The steam shovel has been working preparin the roadbed on the West side all ek and work of construction the foundation for curbs and gutters 'has already commenced at the north 'end. T.T.C. cars are now using the new tracks in the centre of the road and the old tracks have ‘been pulled up. ‘It is confidently expected that the Whole job will be completed in slight- ‘1y rover one month. A very pleasant feature of a pro- gressive euchre and social evening held in the Masonic Hall last Friday evening was the presentation of an ad- dress and beautiful Chesterfield table to Mr. and Mrs. John McMahon. A- bout sixty attended, and progressive euchre, occupied the guests in the ear_ ly part of the evening the ladies prize being won by Miss Beatrice Matheson and the gentlemen’s prize by Mr. Ed- ‘Cooper. The presentation was made on behalf of the gathering by Mr. J.T. Saigeon, who carried out the duties in lhis customary acceptable manner and lread the following address:â€" The monthly meeting of the W0- men’s Institute was held on Wednes- day of last week at the home of Mrs. T.
