RICHMOND HILL, ONT. How about those New Year Resoluâ€" tions? Let us hold fast lest we find ourselves in the same old grooves. After all 1928 brings the same old tasks and responsibilities but it is for us to say if We see their accomplish- ment to a greater degree of perfect. ions, and carry them to completion with a. nobler spirit. Names Not on List Some of our ratepayers think it is time for a change in our municipal matters. Many who have lived in this township for years found that their names were omitted from the voters list, notwithstanding the fact that their names are on assessors roll and they weren’t omitted from the col- lectors roll either. Why spend money printing a voters list and have only a partial list? Rev. A.A. Wall gave a rousing and inspiring sermon on Sunday on lifeâ€" its length, breadth, height and depth. He exhorted his hearers to let God live in and through them and in this way they would truly live. The people in our community are blest with two excellent leaders in our pulpits. From Sunday to Sunday the truths of Holy Writ are expouded by spirit filled men. 0n reflection on the Sunday discourse We concluded that if one half of the congregations put one half of the message into prac- tice during 1928, our church and com- munity, good as it is, would render a service to God beyond anything ever dreamed of. Let us rally to their support and get warmed up then our preachers will no longer experience those zero temperatures found in spir- itual life of many congregations, that blight the best efforts of good leaders. Mr. Robert Hopper and the Miss Hoppers spent New Year’s in Toronto. Mrs. Egbert Avison spent the first of the week with friends in Toronto. Mr. Gordon Avison of Mona, spent the week-end with his cousin Mr. Mur- ray Avison . Miss Eva Sanderson of Hamilton, spent the holiday with her cousin Miss Mabel Sanderson. We are sorry to report that Mrs Goforth is confined to her bed. Miss Kaiser of Toronto, spent Sun- day with our Merchant. A number of our young people at- tended the Watch Night service at Mennonite church, Gormley. Many of the boys and girls north of the store are well marked these days. Even two of the chaps who thought they could Ward off the chicken pox, have came to defeat. Well, well! James and Allen! Mr. Walter Cloke, with the Misses Cora and Clara Steckley, and Miss Stella Heise, of Buffalo, N.Y., spent Christma‘s“ at Gormley. W. M. S. Meeting At the regular monthly meeting of the Victoria Square Branch of the W. M.S. the following officers were elec- ted for the ensuing year: Presidentâ€"Mrs. W. Haig; Corres- ponding Secretary, Mrs. T. Reid; Treasurer, Mrs. L.G. Stoutenburgh; Associate Helper’s Secretary, Mrs. L. Nichols; Secretary of Christian Stew- ardship and Financeâ€"Mrs. I. Nichols Literature Secretary, Mrs. H. Flav- elle; Missionary Monthly Secretary, Mrs. W. Haig; Stranger’s Secretary, Mrs. E. Avison; Supply Secretary, Mrs. G. Dennis; Press Secretary, F. L. Boynton. During the past year three Associ- ate Helpers have been added and five new life members making a total of twenty life members. A bale of quilts ‘valued at $45 was sent to the Supply Secretary, Toronto, and 69 jars of fruit and pickles were sent to the Deaconess Home, $275, which exceed- ed the allocation by $75 was forward- ed to Mrs. J.A. Snell, Corresponding Secretary, Toronto. It’s a strange fact, but history shows that Diogenes didn’t even attempt to look for an honest women. On Thursday, December 29, the ex- ecutive met at the home of Mrs. L.C. Stoutenburgh to settle any unfinished business and make plans for the New Year. It was decided to use the new study books for 1928.
