Ontario The annual service of the W.’M.S. of the United Churchlwill be held on Easter Sunday evening . There will also be service in the church on the morning of Easter Sunday. ,‘ Mr. E. Simmons, of Toronto, gave a Temperance address on Sunday afternoon and occupied the pulpit of the United Church in the evening. Mr. and Mrs. E. Mathewson enter- tained about forty guests at a fowl supper on Wednesday evening of last week. Miss Jean Matheson is supplying for Miss Warnica in the public school at King City. Last week Miss Matheson taughtt’in the school here for Miss B. M. Carey, who was ill. Many farms have changed hands in this vicinity lately. It is reported that Mr E. Gordon, south' of Maple has sold his farm to Mr. A. Baggs, and Mr. T. Clark’s farm at Hope has been purchased by the Hope \Brothers of Aurora. ‘ Th Kyle Brothers of Teston who \had a very successful sale recently, {have bought Mr. W. J. Malloy’s farm on the townâ€"line north of here. The regular monthly meeting the W.M.S. was held at the home Mrs. T. Cousins on Wednesday last week. There was a very small attendance at the play given by a Company from Toronto in the Community Hall last Friday evening. It is hoped that there Will be a large attendance at the Community Hall on Friday evening The Dra- matic Club of Hope has spent a. great deal of time in preparation, under the direction of Mrs. A. S. Kerr, and it is understood that the Play, “Home Ties” is an interesting one. After listening to a most delightful and instructive talk on Horticultural work by Miss Moyle and Mrs. Phipps of Richmond Hill, the result at the close of the meeting was 35 paid members. In the following three days the membership reached seventy five. It is hoped to complete the organization early in April. Large flocks of Wild geese have been seen flying north over the vill- age during the past week. The Windemere Dramatic Club, of Toronto, will give a play in the Com- munity ‘Hall, Maple, on Friday April 13th. Keep this date open, as it will be well worth seeing. The minstrel show and the impersonation of Mr. Stewart’s car were very good. The next meeting is in charge of first and second forms. The Easter Exams are in full sway now and many a. boy and girl is seen these days at noon and receSS with books in their hands trying to cram in a last bit of knowledge. The Senior Boys Basketball team showed its ability last Thursday, at Pickering, when they took Aurora into camp by a score of 50-32. The boys played super-basketball and it would be impossible to pick any stars of the game. If they can deâ€" feat Pickering College at Newmarket on Thursday they will be the cham- pions of North York. YOUNG PEOPLE’S SOCIETY The regular meeting of the Young People’s Society will be held as usual on Monday evening: April 2nd,, at 8 o’clock sharp The meeting will be in charge of the Devotional Dept. Mr. W. W. A. French will give the address of the evening. There will also be musical numbers. At the close of the regular meeting a social period will be spent in games. Every- body welcome. A Girl’s Basketball League has been formed in the school The games are being played between the differâ€" ent forms and the winning form Wlll be awarded with a cup and will also be banqueted at the close of the season. The Captains of the teams are:â€" Form IIâ€"Gladys Hooper. Form IIIAâ€"Margaret Plewman. Form IVâ€"Ruth Reaman. Form V & IIIBâ€"Hilda Wright. Up to the present time two games have been played. Form II vs form IV, the score being 8-6 in favor of form IV. Form V vs form IIIA, the score being 14-4 in favor of form V. The next game will be played on March 27 between form II and form Y.M.C.A., St. Clair Ave., Toronto. Mr. Graham is in touch with a number of good young men who would be glad of an opportunity to work on farms in York County. It has been intimated to The Liber- al that a sharp check up will be made this spring on drivers of motor cars and all motorists would therefore be well advised to always carry their drivers license. It will be of no avail to offer the excuse that it is in your other pocket. The driver of a car must always have it on his per- son. A word to the wise should be sufficient. \' The Richmond Hill council will meet in regular session in the Clerk’s office on Monday evening next for the‘ transaction of general business. Mr. F .T.
