The auditor’s report showed the books and accounts to be in very satisfacâ€" tory shape and the finances in good standing. The Inspector’s report of his inspection of the High School in March was very complimentary, the grading of the accommodation was invariably number I, and his» remarks concerning the splendid standing of the school was very gratifying to the board. In his general remarks Inspector Husband said: Mr. Allan Meyer, of Buttonville, underwent an operation for appendiâ€" citis this week and we understand he is making favorable progress. “It has been a pleasure'for me to visit the Richmond Hill High School and note the fine provision that has been made for carrying on the work of secondary education. The memâ€" bers of the ,Board as ‘well as the people of the village and the sur- rounding community are to be con- gratulated on the interest they have shown in the welf e of the boys and girls; and I trust t at the success of those who may be trained in the school from year to year will be in keeping with the sacrifice the com- munity is making to maintain it in its present efficient state. The following members were pre- sent; chairman G. H. Duncan, trus- tees, H. Endean, H. Murphy, H. Cook, H. Sanderson, A. A. Eden, Jos. At- kinson, and Stan. Tyndall. Word has been received of the death of Milton Palmer, a former wellâ€"known lacrosse player of Rich- mond Hill. He had been living in New Mexico and died following an operation. The accounts paSSed included an item for $82, for a metallic garage to be used as a. tool room and store- house at the High School. SALVATION ARMY Mr. and Mrs. P. G. Hill, motored to Buffalo at the beginning of the weak to attend the wedding of Miss Dorothy Day Gibbs and Dr. Ernest James Hi1]. Mr. and Mrs. Lauder Glass, of Detroit, are holidaying in Richmond Hill for the coming month. SPLENDID REPORT OF LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL Councillor James McLean spent the week end at his home here. Principal Stewart is a good organ. izer and administrator and he is for- tunate in having, for the mest part, teachers of experience associated with him in the work. However if the school is to get his best service as Principal he should be relieved as soon as possible of work in Physi- cal Culture. I was also informed that most of the boys and girls are interested in the athletics of the school and this is desirable. Good wholesome sport has ever been a source of strength to the life of any school, as through it the phySical wellâ€"being of the pupils is promoted and certain lessons, im- portant in their bearing on the fu- ture life of the boys and girls, are inculcated almost unconsciously.” Tenders Were received for supply- ing floor oil and dustbane t0 the school and the order was awarded to C. N. Cooper. The board had securâ€" ed Toronto prices on the commodities but the local price was lower. ing. During my Visit I had an op portunity to listen to a very good de bate.‘ A commendable work of this school taken in debating a T. C.
