This day and ser- vice has grown from a Denomination- al W.M.S. prayer service that usually was observed during the first week in January. With the vision of a federation of the W.M.S. Boards in Canada, on January 9th, 1928 the Do- minion wide interdenominational World’s day of prayer was instituted, this meeting was held for two consecâ€" utive years, the program. being preâ€" pared by the Interini Committee of the Women’s Mission Boards of Canâ€" ada to suit the five denominations then interested, namely; Anglican, Methodist, Congregational, Baptist and Presbyterian. In 1922, the Mission Boards of Can ada were approached by the Women’s Federated Boards of the United States and asked if they would unite with them in a nation wide interde- nominational Women’s day of Prayer for missions to be held on March 3rd. Thus it came about that on this day- the women whose hearts. were filled with Missionary zeal, sought to reâ€" new their allegiance to Christ and so become more truly his helpers. Every year since its inception, the day has seen a widening fellowship of believ- ing women uniting in prayer for Miss- ions throughout the earth. This year as last year. the observance was world wide and as one has said “As the earâ€" th begins her journey around the sun on that day, groups of women and girls in India, Japan, Korea, China and all the Orient will be wending their way to the trysting place, north and south America will follow; also the Island and Europe, Africa and lAustralia until the world will be en- ‘circled with a gament of praise and prayer.†Local services on this day are be- ing arranged in all centres and to at- tend is in deed a privilege and a bless- ‘ing that no woman can afford to miss.
