RICHMON’D HILL BOYS DEFEAT WILLO“'DALE LEGIONS BY A SCORE OF 12â€"10 Willowdale Legions motored to Richmond Hill last Friday evening with confidence of knocking the Rich- ‘mond Hill boys off the top rung of the Men‘s Yonge Street League, but were very much disappointed when they found the local boys all in readi- ncss for a real hot argument and aft- er a see-saw battle Richmond Hill pulled out in front with a two run lead, and are still on the top of the league. Legions made a strong bid for the game, but through many err~ 01's of their out field and in field Richmond Hill took advantage and clouted the old “horsehide†for five runs in the fifth innings which put them up one run. “Dunc†Campbell an old Richmond Hill boy who is do- ing the back-stopping for the Legions started the fire~works in the first inâ€" nings, when he slammed out a homer to right field, and up until the third innings the score stood 1 to 0 in favâ€" or the Legions, when Richmond Hill tied it up, only to have the visitors come back again in the fourth, when ,they 5 aged '3. “Slugging Bee†and scored four runs, to put them up three runs with the score 4 to 1, but that lead did not last, when Richmond Hill went to bat in the fifth the first two batters fanned and then the fire- works started, when they put across five runs and pulled out in front and held that lead up until the end of the game, but Legions scored four in the sixth, one being a homer by Jim Armstrong, and the game ended with the score 12-10 in favor of, Richmond Hill. Bennett and McLean was the ‘battery for Richmond Hill, while Doyle pitched and Campbell caught for the Legion. MAPLE FIELD DAY, SATURDAY, AUGUST 3151:. Richmond Hill boys will motor to Willowdale to-night (Thursday) where they will meet the Newtonbrook boys in a league game at the Willowdale Arena diamond, at 7.30 sharp, this will be a good game and worth com- ing to see as these teams are evenly ‘matched and play good ball, so come on fans come and give the boys your support and help“keep Richmond Hill boys in the win column, you can do this by giving the boys your support, both at home and away.
