The change will meet with general approval as it extends the franchise to all without the inconven- ience and expense of taking a day off work. The by-law was passed on a unanimous vote of the council. The matter of sidewalks for Yonge Street was forcibly drawn to the atâ€" tention of the council by a communi- cation from the East Vaughan Rate- payers’ Association. The great need E I. i l Comedy News MADAM Q SATURDAY MONDAY TOPICS FABLES TUESDAY September 7, 9 and 10 i ltion is taken.” The council discuss- ed the matter at some length and every member is impressed with the need of this work but the problem is a very complex one for the township and there are many difficulties to overcome. In the near future how~ ever the council will meet the council of Markham and once more endeavour lto take some action to meet the situ- 1ation. They will probably interview the Minister of Highways as the op- inion is held by many that the Proâ€" vince should take the initiative in this matter as Yonge Street in a provinciâ€" al highway. A By_Law was passed dividing $17- 66. which is interest on the Clergy Reserve Fund and Municipal Reserve Fund among the various school sec- tions of the township. A By-Law was passed to provide ’for the issuing of debentures amount- ling to $9259.87 which is the cost of road construction on Oak and Edgar Avenues and which was done as a Local Improvement A By-Law was also passed to provide for the con- struction of a ten foot macadam roadâ€", way on Rumble Avenue from theI westerly limits of the village of Rich-i mond Hill to the eifgl of the street.
