Last election there were 12,000 unpolled votes in East York riding. A number of York County residents heard the address of W. E. N. Sin- clair, Liberal Leader, over the radio on Wednesday evening, while others journeyed to Oshawa to take part in the monster demonstration. In this issue Harold A. Sanders gives a direct challenge to Hon. Geo. S. Henry to give the people of the riding the facts regarding the liquor business in Ontario during the past year. It is a challenge on which sil- ence will be a grave admission. With a provincial election already under way, readers of this paper will be interested to know that the Provin- cial Constituency of East York, in which H. A. Sanders, Liberal, is ï¬ght- ing it out with George S. Henry, Con- servative, and Allan McDonald, Inde- pendent, consists of the Townships of East York, Scarboro, North York and Markham; the town of Leaside and the villages of Richmond Hill, Mark- ham and Stouffville. The revised voters’ lists for this election are not yet available, but in the 1926 Provin- cial election there were 28,700 names on the voters’ lists of East York. Of this number, more than 14,000 names were on the voters’ list for the town- ‘ship of East York alone. The Township of Markham and the villages of Richmond Hill, Markham and Stouffville comprise but a small part of the riding with regard to iumerical strength although large in area. There were 768 names on the voters lists of Richmond Hill in the last election; 677 in Markham village, Iand 760 in Stouffville.
