THURSDAY, DECEME‘R let, 1933 Richmond Hill Young Canadians journeyed to Rochester last Friday and played an exhibition game with the Iroquois Indians of that city. Although defeated by the Indians by a score of 19-16 the Young Canadians put up a great game and won the applause and admiration of the three thousand fans who attended the game Making the trip by bus over the perilous icy roads the team was late in arriving in Rochester and as a pre- liminary game was in progress be- fore the main event the boys had little chance to limber up or to get used to the board floor. As a result they did not play their best lacrosse for the first half of the game and at the end of the second period the score was 13-4 in favor of the Indians. Going into} the third period the Young Canadians hit their stride and staged a rally which 'brought the Rochester audience to its feet in loud cheers for the Canadian team. The local crew steadily gained on their rivals until the count stood 15-14, and the fans were quick to give their :SUpport land encouragement to the ‘ team which staged such a remarkable irally. The early lead piled up‘by ‘the Indians however proved just a llittle too much and the game ended Rochester 19, Richmond‘Hill Young Canadians 16. Everyone was de- lighted with the game. The fans were free in expressing their admir- ation for the Young Canadians and showered congratulations on the boys and an invitation for a return visit expressed the appreciation of the management for the good game. YOUNG CANADIANS ENJOY FINE GAME AT ROCHESTER Play throughout was fast and clean and although defeated the Young: Canadians thoroughly enoyed the excellent game. > The outstanding star of both teams! was “Rusty†White of Richmond Hill who turned in a sensational game, scoring nine of Richmond Hill’s six- teen goals. The crowd was quick} to recognize the brilliant playing of this Richmond Hill stalwart and his rushes brought the prolonged cheers of the thousands of fans. The Rochâ€" ester press on the day following the game referred in a most congratu- latory manner to the individual bril- liance of Rusty’s performance. “While Rusty was in the battle box it was almost impossible to stop himâ€â€˜said the Rochester Democrat. Referring to another of his goals the same paper said: “Rusty scooped up the ball after the face off and went tear- ing down the middle of the floor straight for the goal. As he neared the net he ran into a mess of Indian players who buffetted him around and as he was whirled this way and Indians Victorious By 19-16 Score The old folks and the youngsters join In play and merry jest, Or in the singing of the songs That old folks lave [hm best, Because (he mem'ries that they bring Are like a golden ray 'Lumming all the happy hours I That crowd the Christmas Day.
