Richmond Hill Public School January Report ROOM I The Late Hem-y Hambly Another gloom has been cast; on our village, when Mr. Henry Hambly passed away very suddenly early Sunday morning. Mr. Hambly had seemed to have been in good health and Saturday evening had‘ made his usual visit upstreet. He was sud- denly stricken with a stroke before he returned home and passed away about twelve-thirty a.m. Deceased was in his 58th year and was born and lived in King Township practically all his life, except a few years in Western Canada. He is survived by his widow, formerly Merle Campbell, two daughters, Hazel and Mattie, and two sons Walter and Jack, and one‘ brother, Arthur of Kleinburg. Quite a number attended the con- certs in the Masonic Hall given by Happy Bill Layton and Mrs. Layton of the Indian Medicine Company. Miss Margaret Chapman claimed the high- est votes, winning a. Montrose wrist watch. On Friday evening after the show a. dance was held. Mrs. Elliott and Mr. A. Gillham supplying the music. Mr. Norman McMurchy, Reeve of this Township, was elected as one of the County Commissioners by County Council last week. The Mission Band held the first meeting of the New Year on Satur- day afternoon. Mrs. J. Snider of Victoria Square is visiting friends in the village. A number from the village attend- ed the funeral of the late Mr. John Watson of Laskay on Tuesday after- noon in Laskay United Church. The following officers were in- stalled at a meeting of the L.O.B.A. 975 Excelsior: Worthy Mistress, Mrs. Downing; Deputy Mistress, Mrs. H. Edwards; Chaplain, Mrs. W. Hilts; Recording Secretary, Mary Downing; Financial Secretary, Mrs. J. Waters; Treasurer, Mrs. F. Taylor. Miss Alice Ferguson gave a splenâ€" did talk at the Y.P.S. on Tuesday evening on the subject “The Heritage of Scotland." The meeting was in charge of the Literary and Social Convener, Mr. Aubrey Archibald. At the executive meeting Mr. Lawrence Folliott was elected Assistant Mis- sionary Convenor, Miss Mabel Rumble Convenor of Recreation -with Mr. Louis Tankard as Assistant. The regular meeting of the Y.P.S. was postponed this week and next Tues- day evening will be the Missionary program and lantern slides will be given on Korea.
