NEVVTONBROOK ROOM II Miss Eva Dennis was' in charge of the Y.P.S. on Tuesday evening. ’Mrs.‘ “Pikes Junior Boys were the winners" again for February on hav- ing the highest average attendance at Sunday School in the United Church. Mrs. Jack Archibald gave the re- port of the Conference of Toronto Centre Presbyterial at Laskay W.M. S. on Wednesday afternoon. The regular monthly meeting of the Willing Workers Mission Band‘ will be held on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock in the basement of the church. A On Monday evening,7March 19th, the final debate between Mt. Pisgah and Temperanceville will take place here. Mrs. N. Thompson and Jack Brown of this society will uphold the affirmative side, the subject being “Resolved that the Christian citizen should oppose war under all circum- stances.” The W.M.S. of theUnited Church met in the Sunday School room on Thursday afternoon. In the absence of the President, Mrs. M. Winter pre- sided. Mrs. Jack Archibald gave a splendid paper on the second chapter of the Study 'Book. The Easter meeting is to be held at the parson- age. iMsr. H. Folliott of Toronto visited relatives and friends in the commun- ity last week. Mr. George Maynard, who under- went an operation in the Western Hospital a. week ago, is making favorable progress to recovery. Mrs. Smith of Kitchener Visited Mr. and Mrs. J. Dew over the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. E. Dibb visited the latters parents, Mr. and Mrs. Taylor at Willowdale, on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. J. Dew and family attended the funeral of Mrs. Dew's brother at Headford on Friday after- noon. Sandy MacPherson and his wife,‘ Maggie, stopped in front of a restaur- ant window in which was hung a card bearing the words: LUNCHEON From 12 to 2 pm. 35c. “We’ll have our lunch here; Mag- gie,” said Sandy. “Two hours steady eating for 35c. each is no’ sae bad." Mrs. J. Dibb visited Mrs. J. Wat- son at Maple on Sunday. A very delightful community eve- ning was spent at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Henshaw on Wednes- day. The occasion was the farewell party for Mr. and? Mrs. Pickering McQuarrie who moved to their new home on the fifth last week. The evening was spent in dancing and euchre. The music was provided by Messrs. Harold Reid and George Stiles of Elgin Mills. After lunch, Mrs. C. Graham and Mrs. Thos. Dibb on behalf of the friends of the com- munity presented Mr. and Mrs. Mc- Quarrie with two beautiful wicker rockers. Over seventy-five were present to enjoy the happy evening. Mr. C. Brown commenced his duties on Sprucehill Farm last Monday. Miss Viola Auckland has been vis- iting in Toronto. Miss Margaret Ilond of Toronto visited friends here over the week- end. After the devotional period which was conducted by the Presi- dent, the missionary convenor, Mrs. W. N. Thompson, took charge. An interesting reading on “Small Peo- ple” was given by Bobbie Rumble. Miss Mabel Jennings then told the story of “A Reâ€"united Korean Fam- ily,” Mrs. Thompson gave the topic “What if Jesus had His way with me." Our little lives, under our own direction, will likely remain little and comparatively insignificant. But if we feed these little lives of ours into the great sweep of the eternal pur- poses of God, only he knOWS wltat they may be and do in his kingdom. “Let him have his way with thee.” After the meeting Aubrey Lloyd, the recreational convenor, had charge of many interesting games.
