ANNOUNCEMENT wishes to announce that he is, now with Welcome First Train DEALERS IN MOhawk 4940 “mm 11 p.m. for the transaction of General Business J. B. McLEAN. Ck!" DATED at Maple this 27th day of August. In 1913 he was married to Ella Lockhart of Toronto, who along with one son John and one daughter Helen mourns the loss of a husband and father. He also is survived by one sister Mrs. J. A. Hamonv of Heller- berin, Western Australia. The fun- eral service on. Tuesdlay was con- ducted by Rev. J. D. Cunningham of Richmond Hill Presbyterian church and' the flag-draped casket was carried by six comrades of the Veterans’ organization, V. H. Mcâ€" Bride, W. T. Edmunds, James Poll- ard, George Masters, J. Varley, and W. J. Adams. The last pest was sounded at the graveside by com- rade James Butler. The late Mr. Haldane attended Richmond Hill Presbyterian Church, was a'member of the choir and a faithful worker in the congregation. He took an‘ active interest in the afâ€" fairs of the community and was in- terested in the promotion of good clean sport Having been actively identified with the lacrosse organw izgtion here. Force in 1916 and after serving in' France returned in- 1919 to take up his work with the T.T.C. He moved to Richmond Hill in 1920 and gave up his position with the T.T.C. inl 1926 owing to ill health. his life, receiving his education in Dunbarton, and later in Glasgow University. Until 1910 when he came to Canada he followed the ship building trade and on settling in To- ronto he became an employee of the Toronto Street Railway. He enlist- ed in the Canadian Expeditionary I understand the hold-up is the ur certainty regarding the North Yong radials. If there was something def inite regarding their future I thin' something might be done. Undoub‘ edly there is a body of opinion sup porting the continued operation al though I think there are many lik the writer who feel that a good bu service taking us right down towr would be an improvement. Wh’ can’t we have some action from our municipal representatives who ap parently have been, dodging this im- portant issue. A vote on the ques tion would settle the matter one way or the other \and then the North Yonge Street district could go for ‘ward like it should with either one or the other of the transportation services. The present state of un- certainty is not healthy and I think -is holding up a possible solution of our traffic problem. LATE JOHN HALDANE The funeral of the late John Hal- dane, a resident of this district for the past sixteen years, and a vet- eran of the Great War was held from the family residence, Centre Street West, Monday afternoon and was largely attended by friends and as- sociates. The late Mr. Haldane passed1 away suddenly Friday even- ing from a heart attack and although he has been in ill health for some time his passing came as a distinct shock to the community as he was about as usual a few hours before his death‘ He was born July 15th, 1881 in Dunbarton, Scotland‘ and lived there for the first twenty-nine years of Dealers in Lumber, Lath, Shingles Ashphalt Roofing, Gyproc l I notice many complaints about th lcongested traffic in the bottleâ€"nee Ibetween Steele’s Corners and Kid mond Hill and I think it would be great improvement if this stretch 0 road were widened.
