The Mission Band met last Sat- urday afternoon in the S. S. room with a large attendance. Four new members joined. An interesting program was presented introducing the new Study Book “Friends around the World.†The Lord’s Prayer was the Worship Theme with stories ex- plaining each phrase. After the meeting the children enjoyed a game, supervised by Miss Lever. Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Halbert and little daughter Marion of Alliston were guests at the parsonage over last week-end. Mrs. W. The Sunday School executive held its monthly meeting in the S. S. room of the United Church last Tues- day evening. Plans were made for the winter’s work. About fifteen members of Y. P. Unions of the United Church 'are taking advantage of the School for Religious Training which is now beâ€" ing held in Queen Mary School, Wil- lowd‘ale. Newtonbrook Y.P.U. has the largest representation attending the school. ._ ‘ ‘ Newtonbrook United Church will celebrate its 79th anniversary on Sunday, Oct. 18th with special ser- vices at 11 am. and 7 pm. Rev. H. S. Clugston of Manor Rd. United Church, Toronto, will preach at both services. A Thank-Offering will be received. Special music by the choir. On Monday evening there will be a Hot Supper served from 6 to 8. A Bazaar table with various kinds of fancy and useful needlework, quilts etc. and a Grand Concert to comâ€" mence at 8.15. Among the artists who are expected to take part on the program are: Madame Boyce, Elocu- tionist; Mrs. John Dow, Scotch Sing- er; Mrs. Gladstone Wilson, Soprano; Miss Barbara Long, Reader.
