Editor, The Liberal- Sir;â€" i As a taxpayer I would like to voice ‘my opinion regarding an election in Richmond Hill this year. As our present Reeve and council are doing such efficient work, why change? I wonder if the taxpayers ever realize how much an election costs? I un- derstand it is in the neighbourhooé Vof $100.00 This could‘ be used for something more necessary than an election. If the Reeve and council who are five of our best business men were not doing their utmOSt to improve things in our Village I would be the first to suggest a change. No one can say but that we are in a better financial condi- tion to-day' than for some time past. A TAXPAYER. RICHMOND HILL, ONTARIO. THURSDAY, DECEMBER 17th, 1936. ‘ The difficulties that business men have faced during the past few years are inadequater recognized by their fellow-citizens. So is the fact that fair dealing has always characterized their operations in the great major. ity of cases. The way they have met the test of these trying times should “result in their being accorded a greater measure of public confidence which will stand them in good stead in the better days that now lie ahead. A Los Angeles scientist has de- monstrated' that quality potatoes can lb-e grown in water filled tanks. We understand the next step will be to heat the water and produce boiled potatoes. We’re curious to know what goes on at the broadcasting- station that makes people laugh so hard at the comedians. An exchange says: “Child experts say parents Who want to cure their children of suckihg their thumbs should teach them to dance. Or how about making hitch-hikers out of them?" There might be thumbthing in that. When an irresistible force meets an immovable object, a police officer comes along and looks over the driv- er‘s license. With the trailer an established: success, how about a portable small 'farm that may be towed out of a drouth section. Some consolation may be derived from the fact that a head! couldn’t ache if there wasn’t something in it. The nicest way to prepare SIpinach for the table is to feed it to the cow and serve it in a milk glass. The frank friend who tells you things for your own good may be helpful, but so is castor oil. Regular loafers find that time hangs heavy because there are not so many busy workmen to wartch. The 8,000,000 people of Holland have 2,500,000 bicycles. We have seven senses. Five of them take car-e of themselves and two need cultivatingâ€"common sense and a sense of humor. An idea for getting rid of d‘epnes. sionâ€"throw out the au'bos and bring ‘back the horses. Then the country will be stabilized. FEEDS FOR STOCK AND POULTRY Nomination meetings throughout the district will be held a week from Monday.
