It was decided by resoâ€" lution to send $2.00 to the Wheel- men’s Association so as to have the bicycle races under the rules of said‘ association. The prize list as re- vised by the Executive Committee was adopted after one or two altera- tions. The prize for senior football team was raised from $15 to $16.50. In addition to the usual sports prizes this year will be given for Running Jump, Standing Jump, Run Hop Step and Jump and Sack Race. Before adjouming a committee was appoint- ed to epgage a band, and another committee to rent booths to those who require them. WAY BACK IN LIBERAL FILES Smi‘dhs Falls must be considered a “sucker town,†to outsiders, in its dispensing of relief. Town,C,0uncil members learned at a recent meeting that a family who could boast a $500 bank savings account and ownership of a farm assessed at $1,800, recently moved into town and' applied for re- lief. Was it nerve or ignorance? Unâ€" doubtedly this family can boast great- er material assets than a lot of local taxpayers who are compelled to pay relief costs. A survey of the department stores, buses, trams and street cars has (Te- monstrated that women lose more articles than men. As a matter of fact the male of the species also mis- lays many things; but he kn0\VS en- omgh to do that in the ’home, and then have everyone else in the houseâ€" hold looking for them The world does not owe any. man a decent or any other kind of a liv- ing, declared a recent speaker. A man is only entitled to the equivaâ€" lent of the services he renders the world. That is quite correct, and it is well we should' 'be reminded of‘ it. The St. Thomas Timesâ€"Journal puts it this wayzâ€"“We think of more sensible Ways of showing deep and sincere respect for a departed friend than standing 'bareheaded, or in- frig- id distress, in a biting Wind or a snowstorm, while a funeral service goes on and on.†RICHMOND HILL, ONTARIO, LEIURSDAY, APRIL 8th, 1937‘ Some autoists‘ travelling in Ontario will be permitted to speed upfrom 35 to 50 miles an hour ori open highâ€" ways. As no d’oubt most of them do that anyway, the legal permission may not be noticed. The craze for slend'ex'izing' is kill- ing many Canadian women, one doc- tor told the medical convention at London, Ont. Putting the “die†in déet so to speak. Part of the charge went down through the coal stove near the centre of the building, tore the oil cloth under the stove, splint- ered the door frame in the cellar, and blew out two lamps in different rooms.
