I This hilarious story casts Miriam in a real comedy role as a girl archi- rtect who chased a wealthy young [man (McCrea) to the ends of the eanthâ€"to make him sign a contract rto finance a model village and fin- rally managed to get his name on khe dotted 1ine~orf both the contract and a marriage license. John Blystone direcited’ “Woman Chases Man” from screenplay by Joseph Anthony, M vuel Seff and David Hertz. The story is by Lynn Root and Frank Fenton. Gregg Tolamd! is credited with the photography, Richard Day designed the sets and Omar Kiam created the costumes. Alfred Newman acted as musical director. “Woman Chases Man” marks the fifth production in which the srtans have appeared together. The earlier films» were “The Richest, Girl in. the :Wovld,” “Banbary Coast,” “Splem- dor” and “These Three.” iMiriam Hopkins and J09] McCrea one of the most successful amd pop- ular romantic teams in films, come back to the Capitol Theatre on Monâ€" day when “Woman Ch‘ases Man,” the riotous Samuel Goldwyn come-dry, be- gin’s a 3-day engagement there. Tea drinkers here who favor Chi- nese and Japanese blends may prob- ably find that‘ the storm over Shangâ€" hai has a blow for their teaâ€"cups. One important house of importers in Toronto, with agents in the Far East, informed The Telegram that all export of Chinese teas had ceased as the result of the war. Chinese merchants find it impossible to get their teas to the ships at Shanghai. THE LIBERAL, RICHMOND HILL, ONTARIO Mr. T. W. Duggan, well known Brampton citizen, celebrated his 79th birthday on Tuesday, Aug 24th. Mr. Duggan was manager of the Dale Estate for many years and is a pro- minent layman of the United Church. It is estimated the burley crop will amount to at least 6,000,000 pounds and will be of good quality. The expected yield for 1937 is 1,000 pounds to the acre, compared with 1,138 pounds to the acre in 1936 and 700 pounds in 1935. It is expected the entire crop will be uLdeI‘ cover by Sept. 20, provided there is no frost. ONTARIO TOBACCO CROP SAID HEAVY Due to the increased acre- age and the recent favorable weath- er, the fine tobacco crop in western Ontario may amount to more than 50,000,000 pounds, experts state.
