Mortson. The mar- riage was solemnized at the resi- dence of her uncle who gave the bride away in the presence of a large num- ber of relations and a few intimate friends, and the ceremony was per- formed by Rev. George McCullock. The Dominion Government has ae- cided to adopt the postal note system in vogue in the United Kingdom, on Jul-31 lst, 1898. Andrews to keep the ice in good con- dition during the present curling sea- Mr. H. A. Nicholls has announced himself a candidate for the reeve- ship. The contest will therefore be between Mr. Pugsley, the present reeve, and Mr. Nicholls, a member1 of the present council. At a meeting of the Curling Club held in McDonald’s shop Thursday evening the following members were elected skips to select their rinks for the Smith medal: T. A. Lamon, A. G. Savage, J. Michael, G. Cowie, G. McDonald, C. P. Wiley, F. E. Sims, J. H. Sanderson. son. Nicol Bros. while tearing down the old house in the Williamson property at Elgin Mills, which is being reâ€" placed by a new one, found an old relic in the shape of a school book to teach young children to spell and read. The book was printed and published by Eastwood and Skinner, Toronto, and’ bears the date 1838. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Wilson, Beth and Billy. spent Christmas with Mr. and Mrs. William Walker, Toronto. ‘ To All “A Happy New Year". The Christmas season passed plea- santly; The pupils of S. S. No. 3 presented a very fine program at their concert on Tuesday afternoon wh.ch reflects great credit on the teacher, Miss Love. Santa Claus ar- rived, much to the delight of the children, and presented the gifts. On Wednesday evening, 22nd, the Sunday School held their Christmas entertainment in the church. There was a beautiful Christmas tree tastefully decorated and illuminated. The program of recitations and chor- uses by the school was well received and also the features of the older pupils including a drill, English speaking Nations. and a short play “Christmas at the Stebbins’" was climaxed by the arrival of Santa Claus to distribute the presents. White Gift Sunday on the 19th brought many presents wrapped in white and laid under a Christmas Tree very tastefully trimmed and il- luminated. Next Sunday, January 2nd, the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper will be observed in the church. On Wednesday evening the Execu- tive of the Y.P.U. for 1938 met at the home of the President, Edgar James, to plan a program for the coming year. Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Clark and Ruth spent Christmas with Mrs. Clark’s parents at Drayton. Guests of Mr. and Mrs. Herb Smith on Christmas Day were Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Wright, Richmond Hill, Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Page. Barrie, and Mr. and Mrs. Hardu Hill, Toronto. Mr. and‘ Mrs. Victor Stephenson and family spent Christmas with Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Thomnson. Maple.
