INSUR ANCE VILLAGE OF RICHMOND HILL A new type of burglar who break into homes when the occupants are away shOpping or visiting friends and pile everything in sight on a truck has invaded Barrie. Recently sucn sneak thieves cleared out the entire lfurniture of one Barrie home in an isolated spot. Tiwo boys walked past, but did not suspect a burglary although they saw the thieves. “We thought the family were moving,†they told the police. Residents of other towns should take precautions lest this type of burglary spreads. A peculiar accident occurred while ,stook threshing operations were in {progress on the farm of Mr. Bert .Stins'on, Minito township, when one ,of Mr. John Wilkinson’s team driven up to the thl‘e-sher with a loadl of grain, SIWiShG-d‘ its tail which caught in the thresh-er with the result that Imost of the tail was turn away, in? minding: abogt eight inches of the bone. The place set for the match is on the one hundred acre farm formerly owned by Thos. Sh‘adloek, lot 24, con. 4, Scarlbvoro, about a mile east of Cflarks Corners. It is a fine farm flor this outstanding match. A deaf mute recently appeared in Newmarket police court charged with seeking aL'mns. When taken in cus- tody he had $80 in his pockets. It is surprising how many people who would be in no danger of hav- ing to shoulder a rifle think we should have had a war. ON ALL CARS TARIFF & NONTARIFF CO’S Several patches of the deadly mari- juana weed have been discovered growing on a vacant lot in the town of Uxibrhflge. It is: fortunate the war was settled with-out calling out the Richmond Hill home guard. Next Mond Day. The worfld breathes easier now that the war scare has passed. General News & Views A. G. An alternative route to reach Markham Village is said to be via the Kingston road rOute, branchiâ€" ing off somewhere about the Mark- :haun road and so on to Markham Village. If the project materializes via Yonge Street the road would probably diverge near Langstaff and while paralleling the highway, would‘ not be upon it, the company having adopted the “pay-as-youago†plan as more satisfactory all round. .There was a goodly attendance and a goodl programme at the Pumpkin Pie 'Socia-l in connection with the Eprworth League Tuesday evening.
