The president, Miss Lorene Brown, presided and welcomed the guests. The devotion- al period was very ‘ably conducted llby the Victoria Square Circle and was in keeping with the Resurrecâ€" tion. Miss Jean D'Odd contributed a piano 5010. Mrs. A. H. Halvbert in- troduced the guest speaker, Miss Eva Empey, who gave a most interest- ing- and informative message of her work among the new Canadians at Sault Ste. Marie and Northern A1â€" berta, which was illustrated With lantern slides. Miss Empey also con- tributed two soles. She sang one solo “When I survey the Wondrous Crossâ€, in Ukrainian. She had a display of the beautiful embroidery work of the Ukrainian women on a table where everyone might see it. She said they are expert at needle work and as they herd the cattle in the fields they work at embroider- ing, designing their own patterns which are very artistic. Miss Doris Newson moved a very hearty vote of thanks to Miss Empey for her splendid address and was seconded by Miss Irene Smith. A Birthday Tea followed this being the seventh anniversary of the organization of the Mission Circle. A silver flower basket filled with sweet peas and fern made an 'attractive table centre with pink lighted tapers. Mrs. Ro‘bt. Pinder, hon. pres. of the Auxiliary, cut the Birthday Cake which had seven lighted candles. Mrs. A. W. Galbraith, Auxiliary W.M.S. presi- dent and Mrs. A. W. Stephenson, president of the Woman’s Associa- tion, poured tea. The members of the Mission Circle are to be con- gratulated on their very successful Easter meeting. Miss Margaret Shaw spoke the “Jewish Faith". Kenneth F0 man spoke on the “History of Rad which is his pet hobby. Cliff! Brett spoke on “Languages†which is his pet hobby. Clifford Brett spoke on “Languages†in which he is specially interested as he is now taking a special course at Toronto University. Hicks Smith gave an interesting talk on “The World’s Fair in New York†and Jack Duggan spoke on “Human Relation- ships". There was a large attendâ€" ance and everyone thoroughly en- joyed the program. Miss Ament who worked with Mrs. Galbraith in missionary work in Toronto for several years was a guest of our auxiliary on this occasion and brought an inspirationâ€" al message on “Easterâ€. Mr. Matthews was a Past Master of L.O.L. 888, Tory Hill. Funeral services at the Stayner Presbyterian Church, conducted by the Rev. William Coutts, were fol- lowed by interment in Stayner Unâ€" ion Cemetery. Deceased is survived by his widow, the former Nancy Wood. H. A.
