In the afternoon the Baker Hill double ladies’ quartette sang and in the evening the male quartette from Gormley. The lad- ies feel that Sunday was all that could be desired. Garbutt gave a lecture illustrated by moving pictures of the work of David Livingstone, British explorer in Africa. A large nwmlber of vill- agers attended. Thornhill Churches Unite For A Special Sewice ‘ Sunday, May letg On Sunday, May 21 the Thornhill churches will present a mammoth celebration in the school grounds commemorating the visit of the King and Queen to Canada. Rev. W. Har- old Young, M.A., D.D., of St. Paul’s Avenue Road United Church will be the guest speaker. Dr. Young will plant a tree in commemoration of the royal visit. The Revs. E. B. Cooke and J. H. Colclough will read passages of the scripture fitting the occasion. Benediction will be given by the Rev. J. D. Cunningham. The public school choir will provide the music. Mr. Percy Bone will be chaiiman. The service will be at 4 p.111. D.S.T. The British Empire Motor club Cf Toronto will attend their annual church service at Thornhill Angli- can Church Sunday morning. On Sunday night patriotic services will be held: which the veterans organiza- tion, the members of the lodges, the girl guides and the citizens will at- tend to commemorate the arrival of the King and Queen in Canada the following day. Special Mother’s Day services un- der the direction of the young peo- ple of the Sunday School will be held Sunday morning at Thornhill Unit- edl Church. The regular service will be a continuation of this event. The Young PeOple’s association will con- duct the evening worship services as their closing function for the season with the Rev.
